Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 07, 2010 8:37 pm We took the tiling out of our contract but still used their tiler to do all the tiling. Anyhow, it has taken him 2 weeks to do the main floor tiles (but still hasn't finished because he ran out of glue apparently). Went for a look tonight and it's crap. Some of the tiles are uneven, sticking up in places, and to say we are very disappointed is an understatement. We were paying him cash (we have asked for an invoice on more than one occasion but we still haven't received one). He wants to arrange payment for tomorrow as soon as he has completed the job. Question is, what would you do? Re: Tilers done a crap job - what can we do? 2Apr 07, 2010 8:56 pm Simply don't pay if the work isn't acceptable. Ask him to rectify any defects first. I agree, just because its cash does not mean they get away with doing a bad job. If he makes a fuss tell him you are going to get it inspected by the bsa (qld)or equivilant in your state. I know our tiler had to be licenced. Final clean is on friday and we are due for handover next week. Re: Tilers done a crap job - what can we do? 5Apr 07, 2010 10:19 pm ozzybird but how much of a job would it be to get him to re-do it thats his problem and not yours. Dont pay until your happy. If he walks away its going to cost you quite a bit to get someone else to fix his lazyness Re: Tilers done a crap job - what can we do? 6Apr 07, 2010 10:43 pm You need to get it fixed, I was not happy with the tiling in our previous home as it wall all uneven and I was alway embarrassed with how the bathroom looked esp when it came to sell. I know it a pain but don't let them push you around and make you feel guilty. Get them to fix up what is wrong. I have seen whole bathrooms redone because the tiling wasnt up to scratch.
