Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Advice Needed - What would you do? 21Sep 17, 2007 12:08 pm Supervisor left a message on my phone at 7am this morning saying that the carpenters are due back onsite tomorrow morning. He said that he doesn't have a lot of control over them as they work for another company which was forcing them to finish off the job they got diverted to when it rained in our area.
He also said that he will call me again tomorrow to confirm they are there or if anything drastic happens to delay things again. I will hold off on the letter for now. Building for the 1st time with M3tricon Site Start was 19th July 07. It's been 2 weeks to Handover for the past 8 weeks. Go figure. Re: Advice Needed - What would you do? 22Sep 18, 2007 8:32 am That's still no excuse for the lack of communication on their part!!
If I did the same with any of my clients I'd be fired in a week! I'm kind of in the same boat - we had a contract fall through on W*****r homes back in July and I'm still trying to get the deposit returned from them. A couple of weeks ago I found all the numbers they had given me (even the ones on the web site) were disconnected. Their story before this was they were waiting on the real builder (they contract out) to get an invoice back to them. I tried calling the real builder direct (lets call them 'JG Princess') and they won't talk to me - they say I have to talk to W*****r (even though the contract is with the princess) now none of them are answering their mobiles so I'm going to threaten to get my solicitor involved After 2 false starts, a year living overseas, two more world trips and 3 years of uncertainty we are now starting the build process again - hopefully for real this time! Re: Advice Needed - What would you do? 23Sep 18, 2007 10:10 pm Rang supervisor today at about 4pm to touch base and he said that the carpenters haven't turned up due to illness with spouse. He said that at this stage the carpenters are not going to be able to get back to our site till Monday. He also said that he and his supervisor were going to try and get another crew onto the job by Thu but it is unlikely.
This will mean 4 weeks with no work if they actually turn up on Monday. Apparently the story is that our frame turned up early and their regular carpenters were all on other jobs, so they decided to use this other mob to get things moving along faster and now they won't be using them again after this experience.
