Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 06, 2010 4:22 pm Hi I'm currently looking at engaging a custom builder. I've been through the initial process with Glenvill and have a ballpark figure. I don't want to go through the process with Ravida and others if they are going to be well beyond Glenvill prices. Can someone provide me with a rough cost per square guide for the main Custom builders that service the Malvern area. I don't waste my own time, or that of the builders. cheers. Re: Custom Builder price guide 3Apr 06, 2010 6:43 pm JML Rough guide is $10-15K per square, depending on your finishes and the design's complexity. We are currently in the middst of a custom build in Lysterfield and it's come in at $13K/sq These figures sound about right. I have a friend who built with a small custom builder did a fairly 'basic' sort of house nothing out of the normal and it was a hell of a lot cheaper than your big project builders. Re: Custom Builder price guide 4Apr 07, 2010 6:04 am Thanks for the replies. I should have pointed out that we are planning on splitting the property into two town houses, with small-medium complexity (a tight angle in one of the units). Glenvill are quoting 18k a square excl. site costs - based on the posts, even with the added complexity of two units it seems on the high side. Any suggestions for other custom builders?
