Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 06, 2010 2:26 pm I came across this article in the Whittlesea Leader dated late 2009. It's interesting that if you can identify the rubbish left on the block then the council can take action. I would imagine that other councils have similar policies. http://whittlesea-leader.whereilive.com ... ish-sites/ ...now I know what to do with the builder's cage left on our block which has the phone number of the company on it! Re: Dumping rubbish on vacant blocks of land 2Apr 06, 2010 2:36 pm Take a photo of it for reference but contact the builder directly first. We did this and the builder (although based in the Western suburbs and we are in the North) was very prompt in coming to remove the cage. We have it happening again with another builder, and Ive contacted them asking them to remove their ever growing pile of rubbish as we want to start soon, so fingers crossed they're as complying Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Who knows, they may feel guilty and take all the other crap that other people have now left on top of the cage Re: Dumping rubbish on vacant blocks of land 4Apr 06, 2010 2:48 pm Dont worry - we have another kind of rubbish on our block.... the neighbours ute! it looks like on of those bull utes... that you imagine as antlers on the front Who knows, it might Its full of weird stickers at the back... Might have to go knock on their front door and let them know our site start as hubby is determined to push anything and everything in the way off our block when we start (he's sick of our block being the chosen dumping ground of the street) Custom European Cabinets - Melbourne Kitchen Specialist PM for business details as website currently being updated! Re: Dumping rubbish on vacant blocks of land 5Apr 06, 2010 3:20 pm Im actually on the phone to another builder at the moment, my builder cant start until the three massive piles of dirt have been moved, along with the concrete and bags etc, which have 'superloc steel' on them. Even a few bricks. Funny that the builder accross the road builds with superloc steel and there was no rubbish on my block until they start. I feel like crying over it its just another problem and i really dont want to pay for it all to be moved, this building thing really is turning into an absolute bloody nightmare. V Re: Dumping rubbish on vacant blocks of land 6Apr 06, 2010 5:11 pm I've had the same problem. Thanks to this thread I decided to call the builder who dumped lots of rubbish on our block. They put me thru to the site supervisor. He says he's sending the concreter to remove it. Seems to be pretty common. Re: Dumping rubbish on vacant blocks of land 7Apr 19, 2010 4:24 pm i noticed a heap of pipes and other plumbing rubbish on my block on the weekend, i rang the builder who is the next closes and they asked how did i know it was them, i said your the only builder on the street building with waffle pods, and there are two blocks of foam with all the piping.... hope they remove it, sick of tradies hope karma gets them back and heap of crap lands on their home... ---------------------------------------------------- Living the dream.... yeap a mortgage... Re: Dumping rubbish on vacant blocks of land 8Apr 19, 2010 4:38 pm We are having the exact same trouble at the moment. Builder is building a 'turn key property' next to us, so the build hasn't progressed quickly, for 6 months we've been watching rubbish accumulate on our block along these lines: 1. Fill was dumped on our block last year (We went to our block one weekend and noticed preparation for a slab next door, the following week we re-visited the block and noticed the slab had been laid and fill and a pile of concrete had been dumped on our block). 2. All surrounding blocks had slabs laid by this point, so it's a process of elimination that it was next door. 3. We did not raise this issue with the builder straight away, as we appreciate that during the course of building a house, all materials/by-products of the build will not be contained to the block being built on itself. 4. We have continued to visit our block regularly and have continued to notice debris from the build making it's way onto our block. For the most part, we can cope with rubbish as we were confident that it would be cleared as the build progressed and a final site clear was done. 5. We have visited the block this past weekend (17 April 2010) and have noticed that the temporary fencing around the property next door has been removed and it is apparent the site around the house has been cleared. However, the piles of dirt and concrete still remain on our lot 6. The main issue that has caused us to complain (in addition to the dirt and concrete) is 3 black plastic bags filled with Soil and what appears to be foam/insullation has been dragged from next door and dumped on our Lot. This means someone has walked them 20m up to the back of our block, rather than 5m to the site skip to dispose of it correctly. 7. To add insult to injury the bags have been busted open so we don't even have the option of picking these up and placing them in the skip ourselves. So annoying...We are one of the last to build in our street and have not had one incidence of dumping except for the build next door. Luckily their dumping has not been noticed by other 'dumpers' who may see it and think it's ok to do it also. We rang the builder in question today and apparently the site supervisor is going to be sent out to see what can be done...Didn't take any details from hubby so I'm sure we'll be calling again on Friday before a weekend visit We have a house in Doreen. Built the PD Kensington 24 (with Alfresco & Rumpus option). We are in...Decorating in progress...pics to come soon... Re: Dumping rubbish on vacant blocks of land 9Apr 20, 2010 11:25 am I own two blocks of land (one that I am building on and one as an investment) and go to mow my vacant block every couple of months. The block is about 30 minutes from my home so I don't go all that often in between mowing trips. Every time I go to that block there is rubbish dumped; be it polystyrene, beer bottles and cans, large sticks (that people obviously throw to their dogs), weeds, a mouldy old mat and even a cricket ball. It's extremely frustrating but there is really nothing I can do about it as the vast majority of rubbish doesn't have any names or addresses on it. And the problem is I don't even have anywhere to put the rubbish as I have no bin at that property. So it all just accumulates in a nice pile at one corner of the block- very frustrating! It would be nice if people would take responsibility for their own rubbish but I think that is unlikely to happen any time soon. Oh well - sigh Those span tables can be pushed a little for a low deck if you dont mind a little flex. Last deck I did, I pushed it a little and it was still rock solid - no noticeable… 6 13757 Yeah I don't know why I came to a forum. Place is full of wierdos/pedos thought internet may help but I suppose I'll try my luck with someone in person. Cheers. I tried… 0 6440 Need advice on the backyard plan above. Should I excavate and cut all of the dirt to level with the house slab or semi-excavate as per photo above? Both left and right… 0 24861 |
