Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 41Nov 09, 2010 9:01 pm Gutters and facias put on today. Pics have been added. Roof tiles were delivered monday so should start going up this week providing the rain holds off a bit. Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 42Nov 12, 2010 9:40 pm Roof tilers came today... WOW they work fast!! i was amazed the sarking and the majority of the roof tiles were all put on in the one day. They only have a small section of tiling to finish and hopefully the ridge capping will arrive, which is currently missing in action, and then it should be completed on Monday! YAY we will finally be water tight... after the rain is over of course LOL! Nest comes the air con man and electrics... will keep you posted! Pics have been added of the roof tiles if you'd like a peek. Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 43Nov 13, 2010 8:18 am Hi DD, The house is looking great. The roof is always taken for granted but doesn't it just complete a house? It makes such a big difference. Congrats on the roof, in South Africa where we come from, we have a 'Roof Wetting Party' for a building when the roof goes up. Any reason to have a party I suppose!, but you certainly have a good reason. Take Care and looking forward to seeing next weeks progress. Regards Logan Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 44Nov 15, 2010 11:38 am Hi Logan, Thanks very much, yes i think a party sounds great!! and yes your right, you don't realise how important the roof is until it's on and then you stop and think WOW! i have a sort of house now! LOL Suppose to be wet here all this week so don't know how much will get done, as they still just need to finish the ridge capping on the roof, but it is all water tight thanks to the sarking underneath. So fingers crossed at least the roof gets completed! Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 45Nov 24, 2010 1:41 pm Hi All, Air con ducting pipes have been put in and piece of gutter along front of bed 4 has finallyl been finished off, although they have had to break and pull up the last ridge capping tile on each corner which now i guess will need to be recemented in. Oh well, all moving along well over all. We have been told the electritians should be here either Friday or Monday to do all the elecs, and then the eves, and wet area water proofing will start with gyprock to follow then cabnitry without bench tops will be done, and thats where it will stop before CHrsitmas break. Tradies come back on the job at begining of Feb and we have been told we will deffinatly have handover by the end of March, so all well! Will keep you all posted! Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 46Dec 09, 2010 2:46 pm Electritians have been and installed all the wiring and did an excellent job! Eves have been started but still need to be completed. Gyprock has been deliverd into garage, insulation has been put into walls and roof, and gyprock should start going up next week. All moving along well will probably stop work for Christmas break after gyprock goes in. Very pleased so far! I have added updated pics. Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 52Dec 13, 2010 6:32 pm Wow DD, You are right, it certainly does look like a house now. Great progress and so much to look forward to in the next few weeks. Early Xmas present?......... Can not wait to see the progress. Take care. Regards Logan Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 53Dec 20, 2010 2:37 pm HI Logan, I wish! Its looking great, but they wont get as much done as they though prior to Christmas. The kitchen has been delayed because it is polyurethene (Not sure if thats the right spelling) and that has thrown everything else out because the tiler is ready to go but cant come till the kitchens in, and the painters are ready to go, but cant come till the tilers been. And also the cerpenter must have downed tools early for Christmas because he only cam on Tuesday hung 3 or 4 doors did a few door frames and hasn't been back since! We also haevn't seen hide nor hair of the brick cleaner or the blokes to put the eves in. I know its Christmas but we have a large piece of exposed Gyprock at the front and it will only take 1 storm to blow fron that direction and they will be replacing the gyprock as it will get wet! Surly they could organise them selves to cover it over even with black plastic! ANy way will keep hoping. Do you have a start date for your build yet? Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 54Dec 21, 2010 9:00 am Hi DD, Yes it is a difficult time of the year and everything comes to a standstill. You would think that they would look to protect the work they have done so far because if it is damaged then it will just cost them more to replace it. Clarendon is closed now for the Xmas break and I have not heard regarding a start date yet but it looks like it might be end of January. Will have to wait and see. Our CSC was leaving as well so not sure what is happening and will only know when they re-open on the 5th January. Will keep you posted. Before I forget, have a wonderful Christmas to you and the family and a blessed New Year. Regards Logan Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 55Dec 21, 2010 12:41 pm HI Logan, Yes they seem to down tools much faster than they pick them up LOL! Thanks you for the well wishes and i hope you and your family also have a merry Christmas & a safe and happy new year. Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 56Jan 04, 2011 1:48 pm Hi All, Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Well you could have knocked me down with a feather we had the carpenter turn up on the boxing day public holiday and he completed all the skirting boards, architraves, doors and door frames etc. I was amazed! Then yesterday on the New years public holiday we had the external carpenters arrive to finish off the eves and timber work on the facade, they didn't quiet complet it all as it started to rain but got a fair bit done. Painters then turned up this morning to start painting! Go the tradies!! Keep up the good work!! Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 57Jan 05, 2011 8:56 am Cornices are all painted and the painters are back again today! YAY! Will try and add some pics tonight. Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 58Jan 05, 2011 6:03 pm Hi DD, Well firstly Happy New Year to you and yours has certainly started off with a bang.... Great to hear of the progress so far and really looking forward to the pics. It's good that they seem committed to catch up on the lost time. All the best and take care for now. Regards Logan Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 59Jan 06, 2011 10:08 am Painters are back again today and working hard! Also we are very pleased as after chatting to them yesterday afternoon about the 3 coats of Taubmans living proof silk paint we paid extra for he has told us that he and his team of painters don't use spray guns for painting, they paint the whole house (all 3 coats) by hand! We are so impressed!! We wanted to it painted this way but Clarendon advsied us that all painters spray now cause its cheaper and faster, so we were really pleased, they are doing an excellent job too! Have added some pics of the internal carpentry and the painting started. Enjoy! Re: Building The Voltaire With Clarendon Homes 60Jan 06, 2011 10:09 am Logan have you heard anything about a start date for your house yet? the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 6736 The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant. The Dept of Fair Trading would love to see this one! Do the gutters pool water after it stops raining? Although it's… 4 7859 Ask for references and speak to them.
