Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 04, 2010 6:11 pm Hi guys! Sooo some of you will remember me from my previous build just over a year ago. My dh, ds and I built with Simonds (moved in December 2008) in Mernda villages. We have just bought a slightly bigger block at the end of our street and will be building the Churchill 33 by Porter Davis. Our land is due to title in June. I believe I said I would never do this again (build) and sure didn't expect to be doing it so soon, but we learnt so much the first time round and are pretty sure we can build the perfect house this time So in a nutshell Sharee is back with all her stupid questions, crazy selection insecurities and builder anger She's backkkkk... Re: I'm backkkk...... 3Apr 04, 2010 6:33 pm Hi Sharee! Great to see you back here - can't believe you are going to do it all again! There are heaps of new members now, so they won't remember your q's, selection crazies and builder anger! Best of luck this time 'round Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: I'm backkkk...... 6Apr 04, 2010 8:37 pm Thanks Mrs P - mmm well the major things we will do differently this time is build with another builder Living with the floorplan in our current house has given us plenty of ideas regarding what we do/dont want in our house, as well there are lots of little things I will include this time like drains in the laundry (3 washing machine floods later ) niches in the showers (sick of shampoo bottles falling on my head) etc I guess mainly though I will know what to look for in each step of the build to make sure we get a house we are happy with, I will know how to talk the talk with the builder a little better and well actually I just missed everyone on homeone so wanted a reason to be 'back in the club' I can't believe I'm doing it all again either Bel and Southies I swore I wouldn't!! Yes Fu - a whole new garden and I am still as clueless as ever She's backkkkk... Re: I'm backkkk...... 7Apr 04, 2010 9:14 pm Hey there Sharee, you wouldnt believe but my wife and i are building the same home as you!! just a little further away in Jacksons Hill in sunbury. This is the 2nd time we are trying to build out there had a nightmare of a time with National Builders and have now signed up with PD as well. We love the design and are looking at all our colours as well... good idea about the drain!! think we'll look into that one! Here is a pic of our land, its about 850 squares, a nice size for the house and a nice size back yard. Have you looked at a facade yet?? We were looking at the Urban facade untill we seen it on the churchill, we didnt seem to like it as much, so now we are looking at the Daintree maybe... But we did like the kitchen in the Point Cook display... any ideas on bricks yet? I'd love to have an opportunity to get it right the 2nd time around. Just sooo many things we didn't know & so many things we could have done differently that just bug me now. Oh well ...... cest la vie........... I hope it's less stressful 2nd time around, sharee. I'll just have to stay with H1 a little bit longer Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: I'm backkkk...... 12Apr 05, 2010 7:16 am Hi Sharee Welcome back! I cant believe you are going to build agian in such a short time Its always been said that it takes at least 3 'goes' to get a house right and you will get much better at it after each build. Cant wait to read all your questions again Mrs B Re: I'm backkkk...... 13Apr 05, 2010 9:03 am Welcome back Sharee. I guess if you are building that close to to your last house you'll be looking at changing the bricks and colour scheme externally. I would find it really hard to build so close to my old house. heck we live 3 hours away from our last build but every time we go near there we just "have to" have a peek and drive past. Perhaps because we lived there for so long. Re: I'm backkkk...... 14Apr 05, 2010 2:10 pm Hey Matt and Aimee- great to see someone else building the Churchill - I just love the floor plan. Beautiful peice of land, unfortunately we will end up with next to nothing in our yard but oh well! I'm thinking of the Canterbury facade, but haven't had a chance to see one on the Churchill yet. Not sure about bricks etc yet, I don't actually now what range etc I have to choose from. Hey Bel! I'm all about a white kitchen this time, but other than that I don't think it will be radically different, still happy with muted, neutral tones. Your house turned out beautifully by the way Michelle my DS has done is best to trash the house in the short time we have been in Hi Southies, Mrs B and Kek, I think I will perfect the house on this second build Mrs B (with the collective experience of all of the homeoners its like I'm a veteran at this ) I guess since I will probably drive past the first house every day the novelty will wear off pretty quickly. Interestingly I don't feel too emotional about leaving this place, perhaps the next build will feel more like home She's backkkkk... Re: I'm backkkk...... 15Apr 05, 2010 7:37 pm Oooooh how exciting and building down the road from your current house will be handy! We have a PD Illoura 33 and love it, the Churchill is a great plan too. BTW this is our 4th build and there's still a few things we would do differently but we pretty much got it right this time!! Re: I'm backkkk...... 17Apr 07, 2010 1:29 pm Congratulations Sharee! How exciting. I think you'll love having another new house and all that extra space and rooms. The Churchill is a nice plan. How big is your new block? Good luck! Happy at Home Re: I'm backkkk...... 18Nov 01, 2010 3:09 pm Well I know I said I was back a couple of months ago- but this time I mean it Lots of changes (including one big fat belly currently cooking my baby daughter due in Feb! ) After 7 ridiculously long months we have finally sold the house we built two years ago (see many many many previous posts) We have our land (at the end of the street we currently live in at Mernda Villages) and have decided on a floor plan- so scrap the Churchill- it is the Camberwell all the way for us! We are booked in for site start in January! She's backkkkk... Re: I'm backkkk......
