Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our home on the canals: Powder room vanity installed pi 41Jun 07, 2010 9:02 pm It's been such an exciting couple of weeks. We are busy getting the house ready for us to move in. Our powder room before had a small basin with pedestal which we thought looked silly as the basin was really tiny and not in proportion. So we decided to take it out and put in a new powder room vanity (somewhere to put the spare loo rolls). We bought the vanity from Bunnings and my new fandangled tap I bought online. We had some extra tiling done to bring the tiling half way up and added some feature tiles that were left over from the main bathroom. Now we just have to put the mirror on and all done ... More photos to follow ... we are just finishing getting the floorboards done. Decided to go for spotted gum, direct stick. I think it looks "hot". I'd be interested too to know if you did it yourself or got someone to do it. Maybe we should consider wall paper for our feature wall. What's the cost of wall paper these days? Re: Our home on the canals/ Pic of my new feature wallpaper 47Jun 29, 2010 11:51 pm Jaelee, i'm interested in knowing where you got your buffet table from? I have been searching high and low and haven't found anything reasonably priced. Come very close to it-company online but have come to the conclusion that we may need to get it custom made. Re: Our home on the canals/ Pic of my new feature wallpaper 48Jun 30, 2010 12:32 am Perth-1st Timer Love it! Did you hang it yourself or did somebody do it for you? I love your house. It's beautiful. You must be so happy with how it's all turned out. The wallpaper is amazing. We have chosen very similar colour choices to you - the fossile cabinets with light bench tops, and alot of other very simliar tones throughout, so that wallpaper now has me in love! Can I ask where did you get it? What is the cost of wallpaper these days compared to painting a feature wall? Did you hang the wallpaper yourself? Thanks for the kind words.
We had the wallpaper professionally hung, but to be honest don't look close as he did a shocking job and we have white join lines, when I rang him he said to colour them in in kids texta and you won't notice!! Well I do notice, but he wasn't going to come back, so am living with it. I think when the mirror goes on they won't stand out, and the lines are towards the far side so not on main view ... I am getting used to it now, but certainly wouldn't recommend him to anyone. It cost $150 to install. I bought the paper online from a UK store via ebay ... very, very reasonably priced, even if you take in to account postage to Oz. This paper worked out to be $40 a roll (incl postage) as the exchange rate was excellent at the time. The buffet was bought from a store over here called Minkz. I don't think they are in the Eastern States. I bought a lot from this store when they were having a warehouse clearance. It was reduced from $1400 and I got it for $600 (I bought 2 matching lowlines, hallstand and a coffee table too). I will post more pics soon ... just got to get the house sorted. I plan on it reflecting back the canals in an unusual way due to the cut and style of the mirror ... hopefully Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Any more questions, just ask away. Sincerely, Anonymous Re: Our home on the canals/ Pic of my new feature wallpaper 54Aug 26, 2010 1:56 pm Slowly but surely we are finishing the inside. Here are the latest photos taken this morning (I had to tidy up for a visitor, so made the most of the opportunity to take some photos ) I am really happy with our kitchen tiles. I wanted something to remind me of the water and to match the glass we had in the cabinets. Our timber floor is spotted gum and wall paint is Dulux Grey Pebble 1/2 tint. Kitchen bench top is Corian Whisper and kitchen cupboards are vinyl wrap gloss Bovari Metallic Gold (I think .. or something like that .. it's not a gold colour at all, more latte type colour with slight shimmer). Our lights were bought from Lighting International.
