Browse Forums Building A New House Re: How long did your build take???? 2Apr 01, 2010 11:40 pm hi, I am building a home in SA with Hickinbotham. 25th july 2009 signed with builder 25th september 2009 Builder signed the contract Nov 2009 submitted plans to the council 8th jan 2010 got full approval from council 3rd feb 2010 colour selection 26th feb2010 ok to start building 15th march slab done. now ready to start framing need another 4-5 months to complete. Single storey buildings take less time comparing to double storey. Sloping designs take longer. To build a 26 sq double storey is quite different from building a 47 sq building.. Not all builds include such things as flooring, driveway and so on... I'd say finding someone's blog, who are building the same or similar building with the same builder will help. It was a house/land package which included driveway, perimeter paths, fencing, floor coverings etc which were done after the actual house was finished. Builder was McCracken Country Homes SA, a relatively small builder who mainly builds in country SA. We are building a single story 30 square house with Henley. They are aiming to start late May. Is it realistic to expect to be in by Christmas? This is my wish! I think the shops and residents club are a bit further away and they are still finalising the plans and location for the club.
