Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 01, 2010 9:57 pm Hi, this is my first post, building in inner Perth suburb. Been lurking for awhile but now we are finally at prestart and I understand everything a whole lot better! Choosing everything has been simple so far but having trouble with kitchen - have basically decided on Laminex Abyssinian Stone Squareform for bench and am heading towards Laminex Pearl Grey for cabinets, the only concern is that the grey will look too much like office furniture. Has anyone used this colour or could anyone recommend a cabinet colour to go with Abyssinian Stone ? The house design is quite modern and will have polished concrete floors (want to avoid plain white). Thanks! Are you building north or south of the river & who with?? We are using abyssinian stone in our ensuite for vanity bench, (love the colour!!!!) we have teamed it up with stipple seal for the cupboards/drawers. Not exactly sure what "pearl grey" looks like as i can't seem to find my laminex colour chart. (think i packed it away once colours were locked in so i wouldn't keep changing my mind!! LOL) The abyssinian stone has flecks through it so i don't think you could go wrong in whatever you choose altho i think more towards the warm shades would be better IMHO. Good luck with it all & look forward to following your build. Drowning in little Laminex samples ATM! Would love to see your bathroom pics when it's done. We are building inner north on a TINY (and I mean tiny) block with Great Living Homes (based in Mandurah), just got approval from Striling, they said allow 5-6 months but it only took 3 weeks, so excited! I think Pearl Grey will look fine. Wow 3 weeks is quick.. Our plan is currently with City of Stirling and I've been waiting for 2 weeks. Where about and who you building with? Re: Kitchen colours, help form the experienced please! 5Apr 02, 2010 12:19 pm That's great the council only took 3 weeks to approve!! It'll be a while before i can show pics of any cabinets as we are still waiting to go to site, should hear something in the next weeks regarding dates as we have finished everything else & just waiting on last bit of scheduling... I know the feeling with the samples, i could patchwork cover a dining table+ with all that i have!!!
