Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 01, 2010 9:24 am Hey All, We have finalised almost everything on the contract for building our house with long Island Homes and construction should start soon. I am still not sure about bricks vs infills above doors and windows. Does anyone has pics to show me what they really look like? I tried googling them, nothing great comes up. Please help Re: Infills vs Bricks : anyone has pics 2Apr 01, 2010 9:47 am Check out kek's landscaping thread (hope you don't mind, kek). About half way down on page 10 she has before and after pics. It shows her neighbours house with infills and her own has brick above the windows. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=29727&start=180 If you can afford the upgrade, I think the brick is the way to go. The brick above the windows was one of the deciding factors for us when choosing our builder. Good luck. Re: Infills vs Bricks : anyone has pics 3Apr 01, 2010 9:57 am I'm not a fan of those infill window things. What's the difference in costs? I would go with brick if you can. Visually looks so much better. Re: Infills vs Bricks : anyone has pics 4Apr 01, 2010 10:15 am Definitely a fan of bricks over windows and doors. Any other infill just looks unfinished imo. Luckily our builder only does brick over. Although we had to upgrade to get bricks over the garage. Bricks all the way! Life is; then you tell yourself a story. That's some really crappy workmanship. The bottom corners are lifting on two and there are bumps and bulges in others. There are two M houses behind us with infills (except on the facade) and they're better quality.... Some house designs, perhaps with painted surfaces elsewhere, could use them as a feature, but on the average brick home they can look a bit cheap. Re: Infills vs Bricks : anyone has pics 10Apr 01, 2010 7:59 pm I much prefer bricks but I suppose if I was building for a cheap rental then I'd just go with the infills.
