Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 30, 2010 9:05 pm Hi, I recently engaged a very well recommended landscapers. They are very good meticulous and reliable. Every time they dig up to join the drains/ downpipes etc... they have found problem with the plumbing. Not using a Ob joint etc... and just recently they found that one of the drains is connected underneath the garage (which is not to plan). We've already settled... just wondering if anyone has experienced this prob and whether it's possible to sought compensation from Builder.... Builder is a large org starting with M. Also I am not too sure what the issue is with having drainage under garage. This is very comman as it is the best place to have it so it doesnt get damaged during contruction. Re: Drainage under garage - anyone experienced this problem? 4Mar 31, 2010 9:14 pm I do recall seeing a big pipe undernealth my garage during slab stage. I asked my inspector why on earth a big pipe is running length-wise along the house undernealth the garage. I was told this is pretty standard, to which I asked how does the pipe get repaired (if ever) since it is undernealth the garage. Can't exactly remember the exact words but apparently there is a way to repair it by directing chemical compound to the section requiring repair. Now I do not know enough about landscaping, but I read from my contract that ag pipes are part of the landscaping plans by owner. I am no expert, but doesn't ag pipes join up to the stormwaters discharge point (pardon my ignorance) instead of to your house's drains/downpipes? Re: Drainage under garage - anyone experienced this problem? 5Apr 01, 2010 9:20 am thanks guys, however, my problem is that the building didn't use the oblique junction joints, but one that goes directly from the top. Apparently this impacts on the water flow and could cause backflow back into the roof in heavy rain. p.s my landscaper also found there were two pipes buried underneath the ground to every downpipe, one was a mistake i.e. doesn't go anyway. talk about a f up.. my landscaper had to re-dig all the junction/joints and replaced them with OB junctions... lucky my landscaper are old school and didn't charge me a fortune for it. If you ever need a landscaper... 2 5822 Hi HomeOne, I'm in the midst of landscaping a cat run down the side of my house, and the recent rains have me wondering if I need to install some sort of drainage. I've… 0 12246 I would find out how deep your clay base is and depending on the depth install a cut off drain which is more than a normal agi drain. Where the neighbouring walls is… 2 3141 |
