You have done a fantastic job - your little house is gorgeous and the garden's amazing - you must have a green thumb. I was a bit concerned as we will only have 4 metres down the side and back of the house but looking at what you have done that should be plenty. You're an inspiration!! Re: The Little House 424Mar 01, 2011 4:11 pm shonzilla VERY NICE!! Your garden is super cute! and thanks, much happier now Just looking at new furniture at the moment... thinking white and raw pine to match the floors - what do you think? oooohh sounds great shon! I totally can't afford furniture but that sounds like it would work beautifully with your home. fairy blue I can't believe how established your garden looks after such a short amount of time. It looks great. belzey Gardens looks awesome - amazing how much they have matured in such a short amount of time jbyway Looks good, impressed with the use of the small space. jessie87 WOW I am soooooooooo JEALOUS of your garden hahahaha. I LOVE it carlswil Your garden looks fantastic. Congrats. Thanks guys I can't believe how much the garden has grown either...but one of my friends pointed out that they might not do so well once their roots get past the lovely loam that my landscaper used and hit the compacted, crappy soil underneath. My frangipani is doing really well though - so fingers crossed. sharky55_shan steg!! stranger!! your garden looks awesome!! did you end up planting more after the plant burgaler struck? I know, I know! I've been slack... Nup just shuffled plants around a bit - have to take out a bunch of them now so my side fence can be realigned so i'll hopefully be able to get a more symmetrical look when I replant them. You have done a fantastic job - your little house is gorgeous and the garden's amazing - you must have a green thumb. I was a bit concerned as we will only have 4 metres down the side and back of the house but looking at what you have done that should be plenty. You're an inspiration!! sorry Mclaren - I only just saw your post! Thanks very much - I'm sure you will turn your 4m garden into something special. I think there is a lot to be said for a creeper or two in a narrow garden - good for hiding fences, creating height without taking up too much space, hard to kill and not too expensive . I must say though - I think I have over planted. I keep looking at giant hibiscus bushes and wondering how the heck i'm going to control 6 of them in my tiny back garden...should have listened to my mum . Re: The Little House 428Mar 07, 2011 2:19 pm shonzilla Totally cant afford it either Aw well. keep up the good work! It's a bummer this first home business isn't it...I don't want to put crap furniture in my new home..therefore I have virtually no furniture... zoe's mama hehe I like how you sneaked that in at the end...well I noticed If you lived in Perth I'd move in and house sit for you so I could escape my mother! Thanks Zoe's mama - I have been told I will not look back once I take the plunge. I have also been reminded that my parents live 2 streets away Re: The Little House 429Mar 07, 2011 2:29 pm No worries - just trim your hibiscus after flowering and you will keep them under control. Re: The Little House 430Mar 07, 2011 8:03 pm Oh Steg, I'm jealous of your wardrobe and front garden. It's good to catch up on your thread after all this time. Love the new family member. Our dog took a bit of getting used to the new house. It was quite an adventure for him and he was a bit mischievious to start with. Handover February 2011 Happy with our home Re: The Little House 431Mar 10, 2011 9:46 pm I know I'm a late comer but I've just stumbled across your thread and I just want to say.... WOW. Your house is gorgeous! Love the colours and what you did with the garden. You obviously have a natural talent. Mclaren - thanks for the tip - mum bought me 5 pairs of clippers at the Gardening Australia Expo last weekend so i've got no excuse for letting them get out of control! Robin - good to hear from you! Not much to report on the house front - currently repainting the window frames and architraves so they are actually white like I selected, rather than the builder's 'white' (murky grey). Curtains being installed late this month which is giving me a good incentive to get it done. I had to take out my landscaping along the fence line last weekend because the fence is being replaced. I've got to say I was pretty disappointed to find that beneath a shallow layer of sand, soil and mulch, my plants were sitting on left over concrete from the driveway pour. Explains why they had started to turn their toes up - there was no where for their roots to go. On a more positive garden note - my frangipani has made a massive recovery in the last few months. After being neglected for years, then enduring months of construction, it has gone from a pretty sick looking specimen to a super healthy tree. It reminds me of a Medallion home that's displayed at Northgate. Re: The Little House 435Mar 18, 2011 4:46 pm Oh that's a beautiful tree! Theresa - I know the house you mean - though I've only seen it at Blackwood Park. Its much grander than my house but I think they both are styled on the old double fronted villa... with very different budgets I'm not sure that Medallion would be flattered by the comparison. Now... I think the Little House is just about finished Curtains were finally installed yesterday. The same man measured up and later installed the curtains - and was very patient with the fluffy supervisor (who literally supervised him while he was trying to measure up). 8 6187 You’re on the right track, wire brush in a grinder then a zinc rich epoxy primer then a top coat of some sort, like a waterproofing membrane.
