Today I went with my landscaper to choose the plants for my garden. I went armed with a plant list and a pretty clear idea what I wanted. Unfortunately my landscaper said no to a number of them because he didn't think they would survive the conditions. sigh. We compromised a bit - I really wanted hydrangeas but he said they would burn - he's letting me have a couple under the frangipani. Other plants that we chose were: Hibiscus (four different types) Crepe myrtles Murraya paniculata (hedge) Jasmine Limoneum Begonias Ajuga black scallop Violets Something else I can't remember the name of. Epic Garden Post. 366Nov 17, 2010 10:17 am My landscaping was almost finished yesterday - just have 4 crepe myrtle 'sioux' trees to go - new stock due in a couple of weeks. I have to say that my landscaper Top Cat (Trevor) was absolutely fantastic - he was very accommodating of my continual changes to the 'plan', did everything as he said he would, when he said he would and was generally a pleasure to deal with. I'm totally chuffed with the result...but they say a picture tells a thousand words so get ready... Epic Garden Post. 379Nov 18, 2010 8:48 am Thanks Shon, carlswil, meagan, shan, lucene damnita, perdita, evelyng, rizzo, tinkster, robin & somewoman (hope I haven't missed anyone) for all of your positive comments I love the landscaping - I initially thought it wasn't a big area and I could do all the landscaping myself but reality did eventually intrude and I realised just how many weekends it would take me to achieve a similar effect. Living in a mud pit for months with a giant dog wasn't appealing, neither was waiting months to move in. I'm hoping the summer is not too intense and I can keep everything alive. Getting a professional landscaper was certainly money better spent than some of the builder upgrades I went for. Re: The Little House. Look at your place its absolutely amazing and im sooooooo jealous. The garden just finished it off soo nicely. Completely and utterly gorgeous place you should be so proud. I havent read through everything yet so im hoping you didnt have too many problems getting your place finished in the end.
