Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 08, 2007 10:59 pm Hey guys back to the drawing board for us again going down the road of a custom designed house to our liking.
For those of you who have gone down that path what was the cost of having plans drawn up by your draftsman? We have been quoted $2500 "mates rates" for our double story 35sq home. Does this sound like a fair price? Milt, Re: Draftsman costs 2Sep 09, 2007 12:13 am Hi Milt,
we also had our house drawn up by a draftsman, 'mates rates' and he charged a total of $880 from initial conception drawings through to planning approval all the way to our building approval designs. this included our roof plan (made onsite by carpenter rather than factory), stormwater and electrical plans. we are building a single story 310sqm home in Adelaide. your price seems more consistent with an architect price..... hope that helps Helen Re: Draftsman costs 3Sep 09, 2007 10:05 am Hi
I have spent $300 for the initial draft, changes $80-120, final working design will be around $550, energy rating $60, and GST. In total I will be spending about $1200 to get the final working drawing from a draftperson in Canberra. It seems to me the initial draft could be cheaper if you have your "own" draft-concept and give to the draftperson. OZN Re: Draftsman costs 4Sep 09, 2007 11:04 am Depends where you are.
Ours ended up around the price you are talking and that was by far the cheapest in the area. Others started at about 5K - no not architects, draftsmen. You can use the limited info in the NCC steel supports for floor and roof loads.. What about Balconies with higher loads, structural masonry and hebel wall loads which… 15 5599 ![]() If the builder owns copyright Then you may have no business scrutinizing/ comparing his data and costs If you own it then you have every right to. my2c 3 1223 ![]() I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this.
