Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 29, 2010 1:07 pm Hi everyone, So me and my partner are nearly finished building our first home. We had a very very tight budget so i'm not sure that our house will clasify as one of the most awesome new houses... but we are very happy with it... and very excited to be moving into it soon. I don't have a post for every new stage because I found this site too late and i'm sure that i'd be too lazy to update it at every stage . However for anyone who is interested here is a very quick rundown... We bought out land... and waited forever for the titles to be released. We decided to go with a small building company in Brisbane. That small building company was bought out by a slightly bigger but still small company who is now our builder. (Aushomes) I was a little skeptical building with a small builder.. but very happy that we did. Looking at other peoples posts it would seem that big builders tend to take a lot longer to complete the build. Our slab was poured November 30 2009. Our handover April 7th. I'm quite happy with our build only taking a little over 4 months including 2 weeks Christmas leave and 4 days Easter leave. Since I've enjoyed looking at other peoples homes and colour choices... I thought that I would share ours. I don't have any internal photos at present ... but will share some outside photos for anyone interested. Brisbane. 2Mar 29, 2010 1:20 pm Hi mnho, Congrats on your upcoming handover! You must be so excited Thanks for the pics showing the Jasper garage, we are also having a Jasper door and it is great to see what one looks like as I haven't seen many others. Where abouts in Brisbane are you? I look forward to some more pics Re: Our new house. Aushomes. Brisbane. With Pictures. 3Mar 29, 2010 2:17 pm Thanks Walker79, We are building in Oxley. Love your floorplan... love the idea of the 3rd toilet. I do wish that we modified and upgraded our plans a little more... but then again our budget wouldn't of stretched far enough for many modifications or upgrades Our new house - moved in but so much more to do! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=31696&p=442009#p442009 Re: Our new house. Aushomes. Brisbane. With Pictures. 6Mar 29, 2010 6:31 pm ha ha, sorry...well I have just looked at yours and it looks great! Its got everything you need and it may not be as extravagant (havent looked at the other thread) but think how much more time you will have to yourself cos you aint cleaning a huge home constantly.... more pamper time for you and less $$ on power bills, and 3 lots of toilet paper etc.. see, fabulous!!! I like it, so well done. I love looking at plans... Re: Our new house - Internal pictures 7Apr 10, 2010 8:52 pm I spent a lot of time looking at other people's internal pictures to get ideas... some I loved... some not so much So here are some internal pictures for you to either love or not Please ignore the ghotly brown smudge on the left side of the photos (it appear that I need to clean my camera lens). I just love your use of the feature tiles in the bathrooms - very unusual! Re: Our new house - Internal pictures 11Apr 10, 2010 10:06 pm Looks great Love those splashback tiles - are they pearl-ish or just shiny? They're a beautiful colour either way, really nice Re: Our new house - Internal pictures 12Apr 10, 2010 10:08 pm It's gorgeous. I know how excited you must be feeling we are only at frame stage with our build, and the more i read about members builds here, the more excited i'm getting. Our floor plan is almost a carbon copy of yours. I love your colours, it's looks lovely and fresh, and will go with anything. Dear J.K. Rowling, Your books are entirely unrealistic. I figure with keeping a neutral colour scheme I can still add spashes of colour with accessories... and when I change my mind with regards to our internal colours... I don't have to repaint... I just have to buy new accessories dilla Looks great Love those splashback tiles - are they pearl-ish or just shiny? They're a beautiful colour either way, really nice Dilla, I keep on telling my partner that the kitchen splashback tiles are my absolute favourite part of our new house (and he thinks that i'm rather odd for thinking that ) They are ivory and shiny... to be precise they are called Ivory Brick Gloss and I love them! Although I may not love them so much when I have to keep on cleaning them and the grout Our new house - moved in but so much more to do! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=31696&p=442009#p442009 Re: Our new house - Internal pictures 14Apr 16, 2010 1:07 pm deleted Our new house - moved in but so much more to do! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=31696&p=442009#p442009 Re: Our new house - Internal pictures 15Apr 16, 2010 1:07 pm Most recent external picture NOTE: We are definately going to be upgrading the front yard... this is the garden that the builder provided. It was from our builders standard range. It is ADVANTAGE Razor/Desert Brown. I'd never heard of the brand advantage before.. but we just went with the builders standard range to conserve money for other more important things. Time will tell if it actually lasts.. and doesn't feel like a razor as the name suggests. I think the carpet is twisted profile that why u dont feel like razor. Go to Carpet Call and see all the carpet profiles. I have in my mind the same colour for carpet and Jasper for garage door/ fascia. My colour selection on next week Re: Our new Aushomes home - Internal pictures 19Jul 23, 2010 10:45 pm hi, juz wondering if you can give me some info with the progress of your house being built by aushomes. my husband n i are having our first home built by aushomes and we're having some problems with brickwork... thanks in advance. thanks. Re: Our new Aushomes home - Internal pictures 20Aug 03, 2010 2:14 pm Hi gu3ss3d.. Sorry for the delayed reply. We didn't have any issues with our brickwork. We had small issues... but i'm guessing you'd have that with every builder. No major issues though. Send me a personal mesage if you have more specific questions . Hope that your brickwork issues are sorted out and that your build is going well.
