I've moved into my new house in a new estate and I'm now looking at getting a fence put up. I've gone digging for my survey pegs and found:
- 2 are in place
- 2 are MIA
- 1 is in place but laying on it's side
I've expressed interest in getting the block resurveyed before the fences go up. I'm trying to avoid having the fences go up in the wrong place and pay rates on land I'm not using.
The developer and some relatives have tried to dissaude me from this due to the expense, everyone seems to think I should just provide the house siting plan from my builder and have the fencer work off that. I'm leery of this idea because there's no guarantee that the house is sited exactly right; and because my block is slightly irregular I don't want the fencer to make a mistake I could avoid by having the boundaries marked.
What do people here think? I think paying to make sure it's done right now is a good insurance policy against boundary disputes in the future.
