Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 23, 2010 7:51 pm Hi all, Have done a search on Ducted Vacuum systems which has given me lots of pro's/con's on units in general but I am hoping I may be able to get some idea of what brands are being installed in homes these days and what seem to be the most popular/work well. I had a quote today for a Valet V2S (2h.p) with 4 point system vacpan. Installed price is $1692. Is this a good price? Should I consider other brands? This is the only business in my town who do ducted vacuum so I haven't considered others as yet. So...... What ducted vacuum system do you have?? Are you happy with it?? Thanks in advance Michelle Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32574 Re: Best Ducted Vacuum Unit??? 2Mar 23, 2010 8:46 pm There are many different Ducted vaccums on the market. I installed an electrolux unit. I managed to get a good price on it. I bought th esystem myself and had someone else install. The elextrolux units are a bit more power full. Also allow the option of bag and bagless. Are you in melb?? I might have some one who can give you a good quote. Is your house under construction., Re: Best Ducted Vacuum Unit??? 3Mar 23, 2010 8:57 pm Thanks Borg, Am in East Gippsland- 3 hours East of Melbourne. Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32574 Re: Best Ducted Vacuum Unit??? 6Mar 27, 2010 10:56 am There really isn't any 'best vacuum' as there a few different brands to choose from which are good but different. Bagged (around 55 litre capacity, should replace at about 80% full) - less mess simple to look after or bagless messy with cleaning filters but may suit you. There are models available to suit homes from tiny to mansions. If you go for a model that is too powerful then other than wasting your money you may find it difficult to move the vacuum head. When getting prices ask how many squares that model is suitable up to. Get a unit that is about mid way in the range. If you have mostly hard floors get a hard floor tool and if you have carpet get a turbocat. The right tools will make the system work well for you combination tools are OK but never perform as well. Vacpans/VacuSweeps are very popular Vrooms are great but expensive. Your price seems about right in general without knowing what machine you have been quoted on. Hope that helps a bit (I work for a ducted vacuum place) Re: Best Ducted Vacuum Unit??? 8Apr 03, 2010 8:11 pm Did anyone see Grand Designs this week, those people installed a vacuum system that was in the skirting board, you press a button with your foot which turns it on and sweep the dust near to the vent thingy and it sucked it in, looked wonderful! Does anyone know if they're available in Australia and what they're called? I have tried Googling "Vacuum skirting board" but no luck so far finding out what it is. Re: Best Ducted Vacuum Unit??? 9Apr 03, 2010 9:28 pm I think what you are referring to is a "vacpan". It is an option you can add to all ducted vacuum systems. Yes it's a VacuSweep or Vacpan VacuSweeps have the joining pipework behind the unit making it easier to replace if necessary, the Vacpans have the pipe from the top so much more difficult to replace because there often a lack of space to pull it out. With high powered units (larger homes) it may be necessary to install the Vacpan. What size is your home (liveable area) I could then do a comparison for you Re: Best Ducted Vacuum Unit??? 15Apr 22, 2010 11:10 pm NevilleW Hi Trish, We are bldg an EB Trenton 21 so probably about 180sq/m (21m x 9.75 less garage & alfresco) Thanks Ok well our machine AV1300 with a 9 metre standard hose and standard tools would be $700 - but that would do up to 35 squares with tons of power and would be the one I'd recommend we do have a smaller model which would be $100 less (this is our standard pricing). So the one you saw is a good price but lower specs. Are you doing the pipework yourself (p.s. sorry for the late reply had to go out) The Aussie Vac AV1300 is suitable for applications up to 400 square metres. # Sound Level (Approx. dB @ 3 metres): 76.7 # Cleaning Power (Airwatts @ 19mm): 489 # Power Consumption (kWh) (Operating/Standby): 1.35/0.01 # Motor Model No: 491.3.707 # Size of fans (impellers): 145mm # Number of fans (impellers): 2 # Maximum motor speed (rpm): 26174 # Maximum Sealed Vacuum (mm h2O): 2497 # Maximum Airflow (litre's/sec.): 57 # Maximum power input (watts): 1500 # Warranty: 4 years # Filter bag capacity (litre's): 55 # Power Unit Height (mm): 740 # Power Unit Diameter (mm): 400 Re: Best Ducted Vacuum Unit??? 16Apr 23, 2010 6:36 am Hi Trish, Thanks for you info, our build is only a small "Courtyard" house so only need the basics. Yes I'm planning to install myself, did the current one & no problems. Just have to keep SS onside so that it doesn't create drama's for EB. Re: Best Ducted Vacuum Unit??? 20Apr 23, 2010 2:06 pm does anyone have any feedback on the volta systems? and are there companies that do install only in perth? __________________________________ Building Floreat in BALDIVIS with Scott Park Homes Block Purchased: 30 Jan 10 Prelim dox signed with Builder: 17 April 10 Conditional Bank Approval: 20 April 10 I had an old shower unit that broke on me and when I took it off, there were only 2 water pipes, instead of the normal 2 water pipes and a shower head pipe.
