Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 23, 2010 5:16 pm Hi, I just noticed that my builder has installed the rough electrical wiring, the plumbing and the ceiling boards (garage and eaves) eventhough the roof tiles have not been placed yet. Correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't all that come after the roof tiles has been installed? Cos we just had that massive storm yesterday and I am concerned about the future safety of the electrical. Also with the ceiling boards, I imagine they would either be destroyed by the hail or heavily soaked. My main concern is the wiring being affected. Can anyone with knowledge of this help me out here. I don't want to go to my builder without any knowledge cos they can just say that's fine or me looking like an idiot... Thanks guys Re: Sequence of building a house 2Mar 23, 2010 5:26 pm glitch firstly dont worry about looking like an idiot with your builder, ask the questions especially re storm damage. if you don't know something you wont learn if you dont ask. They are the "experts" and are usually happy to be of assistance (at least mine have been). it doesnt hurt to do a bit of independant research as well just to make sure they are not pooling the wool over your eyes secondly usually the eaves and garage ceiling and gutters are on before the roofcover, as for electrics and plumbing it depends sometimes its done after roof cover sometimes before (mine was before) it all depends on when the contractors can get there. Ask your builder re storm damage I'm sure they are getting plenty of queries about it, its easier to fix things now rather than later. I plan asking similar questions once I'm able to go out to the build and see if there was any other damage. hope that helps a little Bob Building "DOMAYNE" through COMMODORE HOMES in Pearsall WA Slab down 15-01-2010 Handover 16-06-2010 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=29049 My garage door has started playing up recently.
