Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone has had experience with Latitude 37? 2Mar 22, 2010 9:28 pm Hi Dreamland, We're kind of working with Latitude 37. The reason I say that is we have had our custom design done with a different company - Inspired Homes - who use to build there own but now they are just a design company. They have been great. They then transfer their designs to Latitude 37 to build the home. I have only had a couple of dealings with them at this stage but they have been great. Inspired put the design through to a different builder but then came back to Latitude because they were cheaper for a custom design and they had much better standard inclusions than the others. I just did my colour selections today and they were just fantastic to work with. So, at this point I haven't actually started building with them but so far I'm impressed. The fact they won the HIA custom build awards in 2009 made me happy to work with them too. I hope everything goes well with you if you decide to go ahead. After reading some of the horror stories about the builders out there, I'm so nervous about committing to one! Good to hear things are so-far-so-good with L37. I've been pretty ok with them until the sales person kinda pressured me into signing by threatening to withdraw the discount. While I understand any business would be keen to close a sale but we didn't feel comfortable rushing into such a major decision. Plus, we haven't even had a chance to look at their quote properly as we were busy with work & getting married! yes we're newly weds =) Anyway will be meeting up with L37 next week so hopefully things go well. I just want my home built already! Dreamland Re: Anyone has had experience with Latitude 37? 4Mar 22, 2010 10:18 pm Hi Dreamland, Congratulations!! Aaaahh newlywed.... been 19 years for us and I still wake up like the happiest man in the world. I don't like pressure sales guys and I won't tolerate it. Especially on one of the largest purchases you'll ever make in your life. I would ask for a different consultant and I would let the boss know that I wasn't happy with any tactic that motivated signing by any deadline other than your own. I'm in sales myself and I remember the old fashioned pushy sales guy. He's died out in all professional organisations, and not a minute too soon. Be firm with these guys - it's your money and others are out there ready to help if these guys won't. I'm currently considering Latitude 37 as a builder but have not been able to find much feedback about them. Does anyone have any experiences to share? We have signed up with L37 and are currently finalizing design. We are building a custom home on a sloping block and the design has been quite challenging, we have been happy with the solutions L37 presented (I'm sure other building companies would have given up long ago). I wouldn't hesitate to recommned L37 to anyone. Re: Anyone has had experience with Latitude 37? 6Apr 10, 2010 5:20 pm I am half way thorugh my build with Latitude and would recommend them all the way. This whole process has been so easy from working on the design to choosing colours. Had a few prices from the big builders but they didn't come close to the quality and inclusions I got with Latitude. I've never felt that any question I ask is a stupid one or that I'm wasting their time. Check them out - well worth it. I mean who was your sales guy and designer? Sadly, I don't seem to be getting the same experience with them even though we're doing everything they're asking us to do! SK Hi Sk, Wondering how's the build experience with L37 so far? What stage are you at now? Re: Anyone has had experience with Latitude 37? 9Jun 16, 2010 8:23 pm Hi dreamland, I haven't started yet. We have some council problems to overcome first so it could be a while. The only contact I've had with L37 is with colour selection. That went very well with the consultant there being brilliant. Otherwise, I haven't met them. Can I ask what issues you're seeing? Otherwise, I haven't met them. Can I ask what issues you're seeing? SK Hi SK Sorry for the long disappearance. I guess the main issue we have with them is that before we signed the contract, we asked about their build style & flexibility and we were assured on quite a few things but after the deposit was paid, I don't believe they've said yes to anything we've asked for. This started things on the wrong foot and it doesn't help that we're now starting to see rather significant difference in L37 prices for variations of their standard inclusion compared to retail listed prices (and these are from premium retailers not warehouse/factory deals). Things are starting to feel not so right....maybe it's just us, since we're pretty hands on in terms of what we want (that's why we were so adamant in asking about their build style on the onset). Well we'll see how it goes... Re: Anyone has had experience with Latitude 37? 11Jul 06, 2010 11:42 pm Thanks Dreamland, We're actually working through another design company first so we're trying to make sure that everything is sorted before we start the build. I'm really hoping that there won't be any other variations required. Keep me updated. SK. I am thinking of buying a block of slope property and using L37 and wonder what are the implications ? Can you kindly share with me?
