And whether or not there was a cover-up may well be relevant, at least to the attitude I'd take in dealing with the builder.
Personally, I don't think my ideas are "grandiose", but I guess that's for others to judge.

I wasn't referring to your ideas Zeke, but to others who were looking for a fight. I am sure that if a day in court was necessary, then most of us would do that. I only say try the easy way first... who knows what can be achieved. Me nice? How nice of you to say so... I don't think so... having spent many years arguing with unions, customers and suppliers, I just feel softly softly is the way to go first. Get tough only when you have to...
I worked with a guy who found a piece of string in a loaf of bread... he contacted the bakery and complained, they wouldn't give him enough "compensation", so he asked for more "if they wanted their loaf with string back". The police picked him up, he was charged and spent 6 months in gaol.
He wanted a fight too...
