Hey Tempura - we're in Stonecutters Ridge as well.
I personally wanted bigger land than 450/500m2 that is on offer at most new estates in the NW (avg land is 650m2).
One of my research students lives in Rouse Hill - he budgets 1 hr 45 min to get to and from home to uni (UTS at Haymarket). We looked into the bus schedule for the NW area (via Hills Bus, that Rocket express bus, etc) and they were all over 1 hour - and if you're not early enough - you could be standing all the way from Sam Riley Drv to the city.
At the moment - we drive to Blacktown station, park the car at Francis Park and then it's 40-45 min train ride to work. All up - 1 hr door to door. There's also a bus to Blacktown station that would add another 15 min onto the trip. Or drive to Quakers Hill (or ride a bike - it's only 5-7 min via the cycle way)
To the city by car (where I have parking at work) - it's 1hr 5 min in early peak (leave home around 6.30am) but coming home around 7pm (I teach late) it's 45 min. It could be a little quicker if I went harbour bridge, Lane Cove Tunnell, M2, M7 - but I'm too cheap to pay $20 worth of tolls.
If you're after prestige - nothing says posh and snobby like Bella Vista Waters!
