Is this acceptable please help 41Apr 05, 2010 5:37 pm Hi everyone We went to have a look at our block today and have noticed that part of the framework has started. l have posted some pics of the framework. Some of the timber has really big knots in it. l was wondering if that is acceptable? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Also is this acceptable? Is this acceptable.please help 43Apr 06, 2010 7:37 pm Hi mav999 l dont think we need the tap to arch for the ensuite and the bathroom. We are not using these taps in the kitchen. We are having the pullout mixer taps for the kitchen. These ones are only for washing our hands. Thanks for the advice on the framing. l'll wait until they finish the whole frame work before l bring it up. The SS should be inpecting the frame today so we'll see on Friday whether it gets fixed. If not then l'll mention something. Handover date 3rd August 2010 WOOHOO!!! Re: Jane and Daves New Build. We have a roof!! YAY!! 44Apr 29, 2010 10:46 pm We have posted up a pic of our roof. He doesnt seem too friendly Handover date 3rd August 2010 WOOHOO!!! Re: Jane and Daves New Build. Help with kitchen cupboards 47Jun 09, 2010 11:39 pm l have been so busy and havent been able to post any pics lately. So l have decided to post my kitchen pics first. The builders at EB are moving through building the house really quickly and l think that we'll have our house before the estimated time that they told us. So l'm real excited and scared at the same time because this is my first house so we'll have to decorate it from scratch. These are pics of our kitchen so far Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We will be putting in overhead cupboards in after handover l need everyones suggestion as to what l should have. My ceiling height is 2590mm and l will be having 2 overhead cupboards on the left and 4 overhead cupboards on the side and the rangehood in between this. l was wondering should l get a bulkhead or should l run the cupboards all the way to the top. If l do get a bulkhead should i get it just on top of the cupboards and not cover the rangehood or should l have it cover part of the rangehood and run it across. Also what colour should l get for the overhead cupboards. Our bottom cupboards and island bench is in Licorice Linear though my pantry and fridge wall is in Oyster Linea. Should l go with the darker or lighter laminex. l was thinking of having frosted glass aluminum cupboards as well as one of the laminex overheads. Similar to the pic below. Though l'm unsure as to which one l should get done since the cupboards are not even on both side Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ l'd love to hear what people think. l think l'll post this separately Handover date 3rd August 2010 WOOHOO!!! Re: Jane and Daves New Build. Pics of our house so far 48Jun 10, 2010 6:32 am oyster for me. not sure though a bulkhead, or to the top...not that clever! and I guess the glass is really your prefereance, I personally wouldnt have it cos I dont have anything nice to put in them and blue and red plastic tumblers wont cut it..as you will see them through the glass. I do like how you have done the dark with the light in those places, looks really smart..well done. I am sure you will work out what is best for you personally re how high/ glass/ non glass etc too...you have great taste. Re: Jane and Daves New Build. Pics of our house so far 49Jun 10, 2010 8:31 am I would definitely put oyster linea up the top, and I wouldnt do glass, mainly because I think maybe the uneveness would stand out more if you say had two glass cabinets either side, then an extra two on one side... Although you could maybe do all glass? As to the bulkhead... I would probably do exactly what the builder has done up the top of the other cupboards if thats possible. Re: Jane and Daves New Build. Pics of our house so far 50Jun 10, 2010 8:58 am Wow - everything is looking great so far - pleased to see EB are moving quickly for you !! Not sure what to do for the kitchen - I love the look of the glass cupboards but thats just my personal preference. We wanted to go with the glass cupboards but didn't due to the extra costs EB were going to charge. Good luck for the rest of the build. Re: Jane and Daves New Build. Pics of our house so far 52Jun 10, 2010 11:24 pm l think l'll have to check to see what price l get quoted for the frosted glass overhead cupboards. It might work out to be too much. Thanks for everyones opinion. l'm still unsure though l still have another two months before l decide anyway because l cant really do anything until handover. I went to a new display home that just opened today by the company trevelle and l totally fell in love with house. It made me realise that if l had to rebuild l would do things alot differently. Am l just being too greedy? Hopefully when they completely finish and l add my furniture in there l will totally love my house. Has anyone ever felt this way? Maybe l should stop going to the new display homes. l've posted a couple more pics as well of my house This is a pic of out bedroom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is a pic of our WIR Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ensuite Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ main living area Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Handover date 3rd August 2010 WOOHOO!!! Re: Jane and Daves New Build. Pics of our house so far 53Jun 11, 2010 6:50 am ooow, do tell what you mean re 'do things differently'...I always like hearing hindsight Re: Jane and Daves New Build. Pics of our house so far 54Jun 11, 2010 10:59 am I think you could build 10 times, and each time you would learn something and next time you would do it differently! Once the house is finished and you settle in, things will of course be better! you will be too busy doing stuff with your new home to worry about going to display houses Try not to get a step ahead, enjoy this build before moving onto the next one! Re: Jane and Daves New Build. Pics of our house so far 55Jun 11, 2010 2:19 pm Can I ask which way you have the two sliding doors to the alfresco opening. In the last picture it looks as if the one from meals to alfresco opens to the right, and from family to alfresco it opens to the left (ie, both doors are pulled towards the bit of wall/corner between them. In the standard plans they open the other way (ie away from each other - which is how we have ours), did you specifically request this after you posted your plans, cause they show them opening the other way (standard)? Re: Jane and Daves New Build. Pics of our house so far 56Jun 13, 2010 12:14 pm Hi l'm glad that you noticed that. We just picked it up a couple of days ago. l am really dissapointed with the stacker doors. We had quite alot of issues in regards to that. They definately are going the wrong way. They are meant to pull away from each other. My SS is going to check with stegbar and get back to me on that one. Also the family stacker door is meant to be 3600mm instead of 2350mm. Have they started building your house yet? When we first signed to get a quote done at the display homes we walked through a saville 27. We wanted to get a quote on the saville 27 and the customer service guy talked us inot getting the saville 25 and adding the 2 squares so then it will become the same as the saville 27. They gave us the stacker doors that comes with a saville 25 (2350mm) instead of the stacker doors that comes with the saville 27. l was really unhappy with the doors because l wanted to add a timber deck after handover and alfresco area now does not look open. l had to pay an extra $3008 to EB so they can change the doors to a 3600mm. So in my case they are willing to rip out the 2350mm doors and add the 3600mm doors. Our CS lady said that it was going to cost EB over $9000 to do this but there willing to give this to us for $3008. They will have to call the bricks/plaster/electrician people out again to correct this mistake. So make sure that you are happy with the size doors that you are getting. Another issue we had was with the other stacker door. At tender stage we asked to upgrade the window in the meals/alfresco to a stacker door so it could be the same as the display home and l negotiated the price down to $1624. They were willing to give me this price so l could sign the tender. Though silly me l didnt get them to write down that l was going to get the same as what is at the display home. l did not discuss with them the size. l just told them that l wanted it the same as the display home. Tricky EB people have decided to give me a 2350mm stacker door instead of a 2700mm stacker door for this price without telling me. That was one thing l did not check on the plans until they put the stacker doors in. With these doors they said that l have already signed off on it and they cant do anything about it anymore. Such badluck. Other that that the build has been really good. l did not have any issues with the bricks/ plaster. Fingers cross it stays that way Handover date 3rd August 2010 WOOHOO!!! Re: Jane and Daves New Build. Pics of our house so far 57Jun 15, 2010 1:45 pm We have our roof on, and are still waiting for brickies to start on our place. Glad to hear that they are taking out the wrong size door and replacing it with the bigger one that you paid for. Ours are both 2325 wide, should have asked for the bigger ones, but too late now, and we are fairly happy with the size of them and the feel of the rooms. Re: Jane and Daves New Build.
