Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 19, 2010 5:46 pm I guess you're in a good reception area and the cable itself is enough to pick up a signal. In the early days of colour TV I fluked a GE "fringe reception" set....there were a few of these imported from Japan when the stocks of standard models became a bit low. Well, we were 5km across a valley from the TV towers and that set didn't need ANY wire or antenna (even indoor) to give a perfect picture. In those days, every dollar counted and we happily didn't bother with an outside aerial. Unfortunately, it went in a burglary and the new set that replaced it definitely needed an outside antenna. BTW, my understanding is that digital reception is a bit of an "all or nothing" phenomenon. If you get a good signal with no dropouts or pixellation, that's all you need and it's as good as it gets. Using a better aerial will not achieve any further improvement (unlike analogue) Cheers zeke Re: TV Point question 2Mar 19, 2010 5:57 pm zeke I guess you're in a good reception area and the cable itself is enough to pick up a signal. In that case a better antenna (or in this case an antenna!) would be worthwhile.
