Re: Builder broker: did you use one? 2Apr 12, 2010 2:58 pm I Don't know of any Builder Brokers out there but I do know of one company who my uncle just built with that he seems pretty stoked with. I had dinner at his house warming and he introduced me to a bloke who is a design consultant for this Logan based builder (as opposed to a plain old sales consultant I guess). He took my uncles chicken scratch plan and helped him design and quote on it. I was pretty impressed by the build.

Hi alfa beta, I am a builder broker but I am from Victoria so I cnnot really help you but I will explain the benefits. What we do is we work with you and based on your requirements we find a builder to build your home. We take into consideration your budget, land size and type, location, type of home and then find a builder that will build to your timeframe. This should save time and money because we do all the running around for you. For instance you already have a plan, so we can shop around to see if any builders have a similar plan. This would mean that you will not be charged for changes to existing plans and there will not be delays which are inevitable when going back and forth from the engineers, to the builder to you. Also we can advise you on what to look out for before signing the contract. Like mortgage brokers, we have our favourite builders but this is based on the fact that they provide the best service with no surprises. I hope I was of some assistance. Good luck. Niki Re: Builder broker: did you use one? 4Apr 29, 2011 5:14 pm I have had some experience with a building broker (who shall remain nameless). In my instance they did not find a better quote. Even before the $10,000+ fee they wanted if they did find a better quote. I also found the quality of the quotes from them lacking a lot of detail and hence integrity. They were very slow at getting the quotes and slow at returning my phone calls. I would encourage you to read the forum, talk to people, find out what a good per meter price is for a home and find a builder via a good recomendation and work with them to achieve a home to match your budget. This will avoid you having to pay a broker fee. This was just my individual experience other brokers may have a better quality of service and a better relationhip with builders. I personally would not use them again.
