To anyone who will listen
We are currently having our new house built (Allcastle Homes - Edgeworth) and I am mulling over the idea of installing Havit 18W GU10 CFL downlights in all of the living areas, excluding bedrooms, bathrooms and study where I will have batten fixed fittings. We have a split level home with 3.1m (10ft) ceilings for all rooms except the lounge, dining, study and garage.
My question is about the spacing of the downlights to achieve sufficient lighting levels in the rumpus, family, hallway, lounge & dining room. I have bought one of the fittings already and tested it in my workshop at work which just happens to have a 3.1m ceiling also, I was happy with the amount of light given the fact that the workshop is all concrete and dull industrial colours. I am thinking that if I install the lights 1m from the walls with a 1-1.5m spacing between each fitting it will be sufficient lighting for the house because of white ceilings and light wall colours helping with reflectance.
Any information would be appreciated....
