Dide
Hi guys,
I have been reading everyones posts and am quite shocked with the number of stuff ups PD and Places make.
I am building the fairhaven23 with Places and they have made a few errors but nothing too major yet. I have chosen cat 8 bricks so i'm am terrifed of the job they will do.
I really feel for you Wizards Castle I can't imagine how frustrating that would have been for you, I hope they get it right this time! Good Luck.

As wizard said Dide, its not so much of an issue that there IS stuff ups, with so many different pieces, parts and contractors there is bound to be errors eventually.
What really counts is how they are identified and then dealt with, the thing to consider is in Wizards case PD *could* have offered many lesser options than the complete re-bricking of the house and I would suspect many other builders, especially smaller ones who can't afford the overheads associated with doing it may have only offered smaller repairs instead.
Thats the thing it seems to come down to the individual tradie on the day actually doing the work.
Its also worth considering that the vast majority of the members of H1 are more 'enthusiastic' about their builds than the average Joe/Jane and with the knowledge and reasources available here, most of us are willing to take up issues with our builders that otherwise may be overlooked.
To my mind there is only one approach to building, its your $200,000 thats being spent, that the builder is making a substantial amount of it as profit, its up to the owner to make sure that the work is up to scratch and don't be afraid to make your builder work for that profit.
Your going to be working just as hard for the next 20 odd years to pay for it.
