Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building Wizards castle - PD Francis 29 – More problems 541Nov 12, 2010 9:43 am Thanks Dide, nothing for us has been smooth sailing, from the day we decided to build (nearly 3 years ago) we constantly had to jump hurdles, I just keep looking at it as a good learning experience that is making us smarter and stronger. Have to put a positive spin on it all or I’d be in an institute by now Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Building Wizards castle - PD Francis 29 – More problems 542Nov 12, 2010 9:53 am I'm glad you still see the positives in all this, I just feel like punching someone head in!! My house is currently finished fixing stage and our mortar is starting to rust around the windows, have no idea what this could mean but I'm really not happy! Building Fairhaven23 - Taylors Hill Re: Building Wizards castle - PD Francis 29 – More problems 543Nov 12, 2010 10:00 am We have some areas like this as well, just another thing on the list of problems. From what I can gather (from the problems we had from the first bricking job), it is dirt mixed into the sand. Before they pulled the bricks down after the botched first attempt at bricking, nearly 25% of our mortar was ‘rusty’, when they ripped it all down, the infected areas had dirt mixed in the mortar and the rusty stains were coming from the dirt. Dide I'm glad you still see the positives in all this, I just feel like punching someone head in!! You should have seen me last Saturday morning when I saw that they had stuffed our doors, I'm pretty sure I had steam coming out of my ears Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Building Wizards castle - PD Francis 29 – More problems 544Nov 12, 2010 10:13 am That makes alot of sense as they bricked the window ledges last, looks like they have some knocking down to do! I think once our house are finished we should all meet at the PD & Places offices and trash the place! Building Fairhaven23 - Taylors Hill Re: Building Wizards castle - PD Francis 29 – More problems 545Nov 12, 2010 10:23 am despite everything that has happened, I am still happy with PD, especially in the way they have handled any problems. With so many stories I have read on here about builders not fixing errors and not taking responsibility for poor tradies, I am glad we are building with PD and not some of the other volume builders. At the end of the day, it’s not PD directly doing a bad job, in our case, every error has been due to poor workmanship by (contracted) tradies or tradies not reading their plans correctly Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Building Wizards castle - PD Francis 29 – More problems 546Nov 12, 2010 10:25 am Quote: You should have seen me last Saturday morning when I saw that they had stuffed our doors, I'm pretty sure I had steam coming out of my ears Sounds like me when I went to my house yesterday after work to discover that not only had my builder failed to fix both of the items that were to be done yesterday, but they had made more mess/caused more damage! You were doing so well with your build too! I'm glad you have brought these issues to the attention of your CSA. Also, show them the pictures you took to illustrate what you're unhappy with. Keep us updated with what your CSA says. Goodluck with PCI, hold in there! Jess. Porter Davis Homes Questions? RaryGirl Wizard I honestly don't know how you've stayed sane through your build You're one damn patient person! I hope they fix everything up for you quickly and properly ... no more half ar$ed tradies thanks. Well it depends who you talk to, most would say that I was not sane to begin with As for being patient, the way I see it, there is no point in losing it over something I have no (or limited) control over, when something goes wrong I just let them know that I know about it and let them take care of it. It takes too much energy and time to get all worked up about it, I have better things (girlfriend, kids, study) to use this time and energy. I guess my work helps too, I deal with a number of problems most days, if I get all worked up about it all I would never get anything done, better to just take things as they come and deal with them as best I can. We were at the house Friday getting our windows measured for curtains and blinds, so we were able to have a good look around before PCI tomorrow, overall, there isn’t too much of concern, well not on the inside anyway. The outside on the other hand, we have a lot of concerns, I will go into more detail after our PCI appointment, but hopefully it won’t mean any delays to getting the keys. In some exciting news though, we received our Certificate of occupancy today Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Building Wizards castle - PD Francis 29 – Cert of Occ re 557Nov 15, 2010 10:19 am Wow that is good news.
