The painter put the wrong colour on most of our wooden external doors (when I say wrong colour, I mean no colour at all). They should have used a stain so that the doors match our roller door but they only cleared them, now they either need to be stripped back and re-done, or replaced altogether. We are talking about our front door frame, laundry door and frame and bi-folds and frame. To add to this error, they also didn’t clean to wood before coating them and there are a heap of black water stains on the wood, normally this can be removed (providing it isn’t too bad) with oxalic acid. The painters didn’t clean or sand the wood first so the stains are all still there. Also because they didn’t sand first, the finish is extremely rough. The biggest concern however is how they are going to fix the stains and get the right stain into the wood now that they have been cleared. I don’t know if this means a delay of any kind but if it does, we will have to reschedule everything, including when we hand the keys back for the rental. I went to the house Saturday morning and that was when I noticed it all, I have to say I was extremely pi$$ed, we spent a lot of money on these doors (especially the front door), now we face even more delays. To add to the disappointment, I was looking at out gutters, facias a down pipes, the brush marks left by the painter is atrocious, the painters did such a great job on the inside, yet they completely f#@*ed the outside. I just don’t know what to think or how I feel at the moment. I will post some photos when I feel up to it. I should add that they really have not filled any of the nail holes either, and the ones they have filled aren’t filled properly. Fingers crossed your builder fixes the issues, and does so quickly. I'm more than 2 months post PCI and still no handover in sight with just those sort of issues- little stuff that could have been so easy if it had been done properly in the first place and is JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH! Makes me grumpy just thinking about it At least I won't be homeless any time soon but I am paying board plus mortgage repayments on a home I can't even live in yet *sigh* Re: Building Wizards castle - PD Francis 29 – More problems 530Nov 08, 2010 6:29 pm Fingers crossed these issues don't delay handover. I am not so patiently awaiting the phone call from our CSA to find out how they are going o fix it and whether it means any delays carlswil, we are hoping the same thing Dee, we said the same thing, I can only imagine what it costs to fix things that aren’t done properly the first time, it seems to happen so frequently Thanks ThatGirlCal, we have our fingers crossed it is quick and painless Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Building Wizards castle - PD Francis 29 – More problems 534Nov 09, 2010 3:45 pm How disappointing! We had a ton of issues with our doors as well, we have a timber frame on the front oo, and we finally just gave up getting the builder to rectify. It would seem that as soon as one issue is fixed, another would be caused.. Our front door currently has drips from the stain from the frame after their 100th attempt to get it right, was really poor. Hopefully we'll get to show you one day! Fingers crossed for a smooth, quick and easy rectification! Re: Building Wizards castle - PD Francis 29 – More problems 537Nov 10, 2010 12:29 pm Thanks sarahl, we hope it gets fixed quickly too.
