How can this happen. It just adds to the frustration of the last month wear practically nothing has happened at our house. (Is this why they call it practical completion?) The fence has gone up, we were very excited to sdee this when we arrived. That was until Chelsea noticed pieces of broken pipe and a note drawn on a piece of wood, stating broken pipe below. The fencing people have destroyed the main sewerage line out from that side of the house. (about 2.0m worth) It appears that the builders have originally put it in the wrong spot, so its a bit hard to blame the fencing people. However they have failed to tell me. Now this really **** me, they break the pipe, they put the fence in, the burry it all again and dont tell anyone. GRRRRR (very very ** off) If they left it exposed or told me it was broken then i could chase the issue up. Anyways we went down there today and i dug the area up and exposed the pipe. What I want to know is why the fencing people did not inform me and who is going to be repairing this? I know that the fencing people wont want to, and I 90% know that Content won't want to, but I know 100% I wont be paying for it!! At the end of the day I see it as Contents issue, isnt the reason I paid for site re-survey is so that these type of pipes etc are on my property!! So on Monday I will be ringing the fence people and giving them an earful as to why they did not inform anybody about it! (and also why did they smash a plumbing vent on the other side of the house?) Then I will be ringing Content and telling them they they need to come out and fix it!! NOT HAPPY JAN Vent over.... thankyou for listening! (Chelsea loves my good going out thongs... NOT) Re: VENT... The Fence 2Sep 02, 2007 9:24 am That is ridiculous! I can understand an accidental mishap with 1 chunk broken out of the pipe, but not a long continual line like that.
I would definately be getting the fencing mob back out to repair their mess - that's gone way beyond accidental damage. And the hide of them to backfill over it & try to hide it - that just shows they KNEW all about it, and CHOSE to hide it, so they can't claim ignorance. Re: VENT... The Fence 3Sep 02, 2007 9:25 am Well….you vent away……I had a big one myself last week about publishers!!!!!
I am at a loss as to where skills have gone to, it seems these days anyone can be a tradesperson, gee wounder would I like to be a brain surgeon? Can’t be that hard …..Right? I’m constantly shocked from what I hear; I hope you get the problem sorted, fast and at no expense or extra problems to you. Good luck! ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: VENT... The Fence 4Sep 02, 2007 10:12 am That's bad!
I can't believe they covered it back in - why not leave it dug up to give easy access to fix it? As a side issue, the pipes don't look very deep - is there some sort of standard depth that they be run at? Imagine you went gung-ho at planting a tree or something - the shovel would surely hit it. Definitely agree that whoever knew where the pipes were and still organised the fence to go there should pay and fix the damage. Ray. Second Time 'Round Re: VENT... The Fence 5Sep 02, 2007 6:04 pm I would also be asking the question as to why those pipes are not burried deeper. In Vic, they have to be at least 400mm down???
Anyone know what the local regas are for stormwater pipes?? Adrian B Re: VENT... I agree the pipes on our house are down much deeper that yours appear to be Perth Euro (we are in WA) the just don't look like they are deep enough ![]() Re: VENT... I'm more at a loss about where tradies' general common sense and or respect for people's property have gone. We had that many tradies coming and going at our house during the first week we moved in and they all left their mess. Yes, we don't have a fence. And yes we have boxes (of our stuff) laying about everywhere but that does not mean that they can just leave mess and rubbish anywhere they please. Seriously, we have a double garage and you would be hard pressed trying to fit even one car in there because of the amount of rubbish we have left over. Perth_Euro, let us know how you go with your situation. Hoping thath it gets rectified asap! I wouldn't be a happy camper either. [sneakersss] Re: VENT... The Fence 9Sep 03, 2007 10:23 pm the latest is that the fencing contractor has stated that the pipe was on the bdy line and that they will not be responsable for its repair.
I have let the builder know that they need to get out there and get the pipe sorted. See what pans out this week. Re: VENT... The Fence 10Sep 03, 2007 10:26 pm Yep…..I think it comes back to the builder, good luck! ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: VENT... I have made it pretty dam clear to the builder that I wont be wearing this cost!! Re: VENT... The Fence 12Sep 03, 2007 10:51 pm I think if he has his head screwed on, he should know this!
Its pretty obvious its his fault, he would be a fool to dispute you on this. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: VENT... The Fence 13Sep 07, 2007 11:55 am well i have some good news.
The pipe has been fixed, no expense to me (rightfully so) and with no hastles from the builder. My faith in them has been restored. Just in case there was goin to be issues i was chasing up the the info regaurding pipe offsets from boundaries. I rang the council, the water corp, the water authority, the plumber assoc and not one of them knew the answer or was willing to share if they did (in the case of plumber assoc, who told mme that I need to get answer from builder... hello thats who i might have the issue with) My next stop was going to be builders assoc, but didnt need to. Anyways all fixed and happy now. The builder came thru with the goods. Now wish they'd just hurry up and finish it!! How do you remove one of these ceiling air con vents? And is it possible to disconnect the duct joined to the vent from inside the house, without going into the roof cavity? 0 2504 I would say 2 would be sufficient, unless you are in a windy area Have you seen GlassMate for installing glass pool fencing? 0 1117 The glass/spigot manufacturer will have an installation guide that sets out all those requirements. It will give you distance in from edge etc as they will have had impact… 1 1421 ![]() |
