final inspection

hey just wondering if anyone can tell me how long they waited from when they did their final inspection till when they actually moved in, we are building with m******* so other m********* ckients are prefered but ill listen to anyone..

2 weeks for us, they had a couple of minor items to fix, bit of paint here and there. We also had to wait for our splashback to arrive.

We built with M and had no huge problems on final inspection. Only minor paint tuchups.

We had it on a Thursday and got the keys on the Monday following.

It took 4 weeks - they stuffed me around because they could not come up with a good solution to a difficult problem they had let slide despite being warned I was going to pick a fault with the workmanship and my customer service officer and building supervisor both left the company at the same time causing extra delays. I was also quite picky about the work quality. When you do move in check that all the keys work before final handover - I had to wait for a locksmith to fix two of the three door locks (handover at 2 locksmith at six)

Realise this is a bit off topic, but as you guys built with M'con...Can you please tell me if you were happy with your overall experience.
Also - were they within 10% of their site cost estimate and did they build on time?

Hi Tracey,

I was lucky with site cost estimate - the block I purchased had allready been proposed for a Metr house so they had allready done a soil test etc on it.

The site costs were lower on the plan I chose - not sure why possibly smaller house or something.

I was very happy with service and outcome. I loved the look of the display homes and made sure I chose the features that loved in the display home for example the timber and glass feature doors throughout. Otherwise if i had gone without these it would have looked just like any other house to me.

My choices were a bit limited as I went for A m First home - but we worked around this.

hmmm how long do you have we could be here a while....ill keep it short, we are on our 2nd coordinator, who is almost impossible to get in touch with, we are pretty much on time though, into our 5th month.... building supervisor is great, happy with the way the house looks, few minor probs but no house is perfect straight up...all in all most of our probs were with the original coordinator.....major mistake tally was up to 14 i think....all good now but... noticed a mate is building with pd.. we were at lock up when they poured their slab, their house is now finished and we are still going....

We are still tossing up between M'con and JG King...even though we have already paid our deposit to m'con ! So hopefully we will finally decide this weekend!

Hi everyone, we made the decision to build with Henley and before we made the decision, one of the questions we made sure we asked each builder was just how long the build time was. M said 1 year, Henley said 8-9 months, AVJ was nearly a year. I recall PD was also about 8-9 months. Sometimes they can go over, but i am sure with the number of homes they built per year the percentage would be pretty low. You would hope.....
We hope that ours goes to plan, but we will be right on their backs if they don't ring each week and do what they are supposed to do.
So far, they are exceeding our expectations, which is good, but wait and see.....

Hi Tracey

My site costs come in right on budget, building has been great, and no real bad experiences with Met. to date. As other people have said through out this forum over the time I think it really just depends who you get as your site manager, & home co-ordinator. Build time has been super quick and we move in end of Oct (4 months to build). Good luck

Hi,

We're also going to build with M, after we went to PD and AVJ. Same with Tam, we were impressed with their display homes that we decided to have those timber/glass feature doors and bi-folds.

We were told that their building time for double-storey houses is around 10 months, I hope it's true.

We based our decision to go with M due to very positive feedbacks from friends and relatives.

Site cost was good.. better than AV. They fixed it, as they have built lots of houses within our area, so they are quite familiar with our soil type.

We'll be having our colour selection by end of September (fully-booked already so we can't get an earlier date), contract by 1st week of Oct and tile selection after a week (that's the earliest available weekend sched with Beaumont tiles).

Hope to hear more building experiences with people who are building with M.
