'After' you get demolished, please let me know how it went ! Can you tell me who you used as that price sounds very reasonable and I will get them in to quote. (I read the thread re Golden - but our place is grotty) Thanks Tracey Re: P class slab and screw piles - Horrific costs - HELP! 9Sep 04, 2007 9:28 pm Apologies for coming in on the tail end - maybe too late who knows!
Your builder will have to have a copy of the soil test/site report to be sprouting off a figure like that. Is the block on old reclaimed land? Request a copy and seek a second opinion, worst case pm me and I'll see if I can be of assistance - the offer is there should you feel like taking it up. All the best. Just wanted to give an update and get some further advice. We got an independant engineer to come in and do another soil test. He dug a heap of holes and has established that there is between 1.2m and 6.4m of fill on the site. Heaps, yes, but at least we have a definitive answer. Our dilemma now is finding a builder - ANY builder - that will build on that much fill. AVJ and H**n**ly and other major project builders won't do it. Has anyone built on that much fill? What are your experiences? I wouldn't even touch a deep landfill site ever!
