Re: Boral Bricks supply issue - Mocha. 23Mar 22, 2010 3:49 pm The sales reps at Boral suggested Leura as an alternate for the Jarrah. They then provided us with some local addresses of houses that have used this brick. I am so glad we went and took a look because although yes it was similar looking it was not similar enough to match our windows (which were already installed) and the roof tiles which were about to be delivered. I definately recommend looking at houses built from your brick of your choice especially if you are unable to change any of your other color selections. Re: Boral Bricks supply issue - Mocha. 24Mar 22, 2010 4:49 pm I'd go nuts if I found out the brick or material we planned on using is not available. Good luck everyone! Re: Boral Bricks supply issue - Mocha. 25Mar 24, 2010 3:29 pm Well, we got our phone call today to say that we have to pick another brick, so frustrating, despite having barely any good choices to begin with, we decided on Mocha and we fell in love with it after seeing it on a few established houses. I was emailed a list of a few choices, and they all look terrible on the brochure, we are heading out to Boral on Monday to see if we can find something that is in stock that we like. It’s the one part of the house that (unless we render, which we hate the look of) cannot be changed, we are shattered. I know how long it takes to make a decision on bricks, my husband and I struggled over it for months and months. If you liked Mocha, check out Boral Kurrajong if you haven't already - it is a bit lighter than Mocha though. Also, I'm not sure if PD use Austral, but if they do have a closer look at Austral La Trobe and Austral Hawthorne. Both are darker brown with blue through it. We almost went with La Trobe, but then changed our minds at the last minute and chose quite light coloured bricks - so basically the complete opposite. Best of luck! Re: Boral Bricks supply issue - Mocha. 27Mar 25, 2010 7:48 am hey housemouse, when we were initially deciding on bricks, we narrowed down to Mocha and Kurrajong, we went with Mocha because compared to Mocha, we didn’t like the colour of Kurrajong, PD only use Boral, so we have to pick one of their bricks, but they are out of stock of so many, that we really don’t have a lot to choose from. I am almost wishing for some delay for a few months so we can get Mocha. Also, which bricks are in stock? We're about to start building with PD and have chosen Mocha 50mm bricks, if we get the same call it would be good to know what others building with PD have been told. Thanks in advance. Re: Boral Bricks supply issue - Mocha. 29Mar 25, 2010 8:16 am We are heading out to Boral on Monday, I will get a list and post it on here, but I don’t think there is much to choose from. I don’t know how it all works, we are Cat4, and I don’t know that we will get a refund if we downgrade, but we definitely get any upgrade for free. Here is a brochure that PD sent us, these are new bricks that are in stock, I am pretty sure there is more that just the ones on this brochure, but how many more… we will find out on Monday Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Boral Bricks supply issue - Mocha. 30Mar 25, 2010 8:24 am wizard We are heading out to Boral on Monday, I will get a list and post it on here, but I don’t think there is much to choose from. I certainly do hope that that PD delete the upgrade to Mocha bricks and then give you a free upgrade to the bricks left that are available, otherwise they would be advantaging others who didn't choose to upgrade in the beginning over those who decided to upgrade. Re: Boral Bricks supply issue - Mocha. 31Mar 25, 2010 8:42 am Not sure about changing anything else, you would have to ring PD, luckily we want to keep all our other colours as they are Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Boral Bricks supply issue - Mocha. 32Mar 25, 2010 9:01 am I know its very frustrating, however we must remember that it was a freak storm that did the damage and there was asbestos in the building. It could of been worse if people had been in the building at the time. Boral are doing there best to accomodate people by trucking in bricks from interstate. Figures crossed that by the time we need our bricks they are back in stock. So, we aren’t going to Boral on Monday now. Lifestyle use Boral and I don't think we are able to go to Austral, but I will be asking if we can if we do need to pick a new brick Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Boral Bricks supply issue - Mocha. 38Mar 25, 2010 11:17 am Just in case you do need to pick another brick, I think Blackheath is supposed to be nice. Check out this blog: http://theradds.blogspot.com/ Re: Boral Bricks supply issue - Mocha. 39Mar 25, 2010 9:09 pm Our Blackheath arrived on Monday and the brick layers have begun. They turned up 3 days earlier than our original Kurrajong were supposed to. So far it's looking good, may actually turn out better, but we'll have to wait and see. Note that Blackheath looks nothing like it does in the brochure. Re: Boral Bricks supply issue - Mocha. 40Mar 26, 2010 7:50 pm Hey there, I'm sorry to hear from those of you who have had to change brinks or experiencing this drama. I just thought I'd add our experiences to this forum. We're currently have half of our house bricked with Boral Mocha, which only includes half or the front facade of our 48sq 2 storey home with the top going to be render. We had a Boral rep come out with a batch of bricks from another plant today and they are completely different in colour, much redder or darker than ours. We are devistated and don't know what to do. We've been given the choice to; - dye the remainder of bricks by Narcor, who inject the bricks to change the colour - pull down half the house and re-brick with the new Mocha which aren't really a great colour - render the bottom storey - or wait the 4 months for the factory to be re-built and the originl mocha bricks to be produced. Narcor did a crappy job on our last house with mortar differences and was visible when they got wet, we don't want the Mocha brick from the other factory as they're too red, we don't want a full 2 storey house that's rendered, and we don't really want to wait another 3 or 4 months. We're so updet. . . What would you do??? This is our dream home and we don't want 2 different coloured bricks across the facade of our home! The last thing the builder told us tonight was that dying the bricks by Narcor will be within the Australian Standards and he won't wait for the plant to get re-built, what are your thoughts on this? Thank you. That's a fantastic result! Happy you got it sorted out. cheers Simeon 6 8640 thanks Chippy, i hope they have applied sealer but i am doubt to be honest, so i am gonna do this job after handover. 8 16284 |
