Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 05, 2010 11:10 pm Are changes to brick and roof tile selections meant to be listed in the Post Contract Variation? Please answer this, anyone that knows. It's stressing me out, and I won't be able to find out until Monday. We have changed from our initial selections, but realised that we don't have this on any documentation, it is only written via email? What do the builders read the colour selections from? Shouldn't we have our final selections in writing? Post contract variation. 2Mar 05, 2010 11:24 pm They make a Final Addenda... and you should get this with your final plans and make sure they are correct, if they are sign them, if not tell them and get them rectified. What you told your Client Administrator or similiar at pre-start is your addenda of all the colours and selections you want. Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! Plus a shell of a house with stuff inside ! Re: Please help! Post contract variation. 3Mar 06, 2010 8:21 am Every time a change was made to anything in our selections, we got a new copy of the whole document, which we had to sign off on. Ours were only some discontinued items that had to be re-chosen (bathroom fittings, floor tiles), not changes we made ourselves, but the same deal should apply to any changes. I have three or four colour selection documents - the one with the latest date is the one they were bound to. Mind you, some of our paint selections, which we never changed, were apparently not in there, because the maintenance guys have no record of them. Every time something's had to be repainted after a maintenance job, I have to spell out: "Wattyl ID, not the standard two-coat cheap paint"; and "Bone ceilings, not white". My big fat folder is still working for me, 15 months post-handover. Re: Please help! Post contract variation. 4Mar 08, 2010 8:10 am PD never gave us a Final Addenda we just had endless post contract variations. Consequently so many tradies were working from different plans/variations that we have endless mistakes. GET IT IN WRITING especially with PD as our experience has not been a good one! Re: Please help! Post contract variation. 5Mar 08, 2010 10:52 am Thanks for the advice everyone I have emailed our consultant to make sure we have the changes to our bricks and roof tiles in writing. Should receive a repsonse tomorrow, as today is a public holiday. Hopefully there are no problems! Have been organising all of my emails and files together for future reference, so hopefully I am prepared for possible future mistakes.
