Looking forward to seeing some work happen down the road from us for you. Re: Our Saville at Georges Fair - Kinda Have A Roof Over My 43May 07, 2010 1:24 pm Congrats joannapaulp, your progress is happening at lightning speed, so exciting! We are so envious that you have Bek as a neighbour to keep you up to date! I wish my neighbours were half as friendly All the best and hope progress continues at the same high speed Re: Our Saville at Georges Fair - Kinda Have A Roof Over My 44May 07, 2010 1:52 pm Yeah, it's good having Bek building just down the road, she can stalk our build, and we'll stalk hers (if she ever starts . Our neighbours are also there looking at their house every day, and they let us know if anything major happens when we aren't out there, which is good as it's about 40min each way to get there, so don't want to waste our time if nothing has happened. That said, our fascia went up yesterday, and I assume they are finishing the guttering today, we have so many pallets of roof tiles out the front, its amazing that we won't have a heap left over, these should start going on next week. Re: Our Saville at Georges Fair - Kinda Have A Roof Over My 45May 07, 2010 3:32 pm Hmm yes I heard you were out 'stalking my dirt' last night and scaring away the poor rabbits!!!!! It's so cool having friendly neighbours isn't it... we already have our own little club! YAY! Re: Our Saville at Georges Fair - Kinda Have A Roof Over My 47May 07, 2010 10:00 pm LOL I must admit at first I was like "OMG Rabbits! NO"... but now i'm excited there are cute little wabbits to hang out with (even though my dog will probably eat them up)..... Re: Our Saville at Georges Fair - Kinda Have A Roof Over My 48May 14, 2010 12:47 pm Bek LOL I must admit at first I was like "OMG Rabbits! NO"... but now i'm excited there are cute little wabbits to hang out with (even though my dog will probably eat them up)..... Didn't see any rabbits on your block last night Bek. I don't think our dog will eat them, she will most likely chase them cause it is fun, then wonder what she does with them if/when she catches them, you should see her playing with the moths that make their way into the current house, it's hilarious watching her chase them around and try toi eat them as they fly past her, I think they do it on purpose (until she actually catches them of course) On a happier note our roof tiles are all on, just need the ridge capping to happen (hopefully they can get it all done today (considering the fact they did sarking on monday, and put all the tiles on the roof on tuesday, then took a further two days to lay them, I am not quite sure). Will have to wait for the SS' call today to see when they will be finished so that we can organise for our inspection, to point out all the errors that I am confident that we will find. I'm not trying to criticise their workmanship, or anything like that, it's just that we have vested the better part of the last 12 months getting the changes that we wanted made to the plans, and I think that the SS who spends a short amount of time there every couple of days (he has around 25 sites he is looking after apparently) doesn't know all of the individual things that we changed to the standard floor plan like we do. I mean, we have already picked up on one huge error from just standing on the street looking in (the single sliding door that had been delivered had been put in the hole for the other sliding door - they slide different directions). Re: Our Saville at Georges Fair - Kinda Have A Roof Over My 50May 15, 2010 12:05 am Will be there during daylight hours tomorrow (so unusual for me , and will get some shots for you then Re: Our Saville at Georges Fair - Kinda Have A Roof Over My 51May 19, 2010 3:21 pm Ok, rant time again.... So I have my inspection with the SS yesterday, and the conversation goes something like this: Me: So, when will the bricking begin? SS: Well, the bricks are on backorder Me: So, what's the delivery timeframe? SS: I don't know, they didnt give me one Me: Well, they are your supplier, they have to be able to tell you a rough timeframe when to expect delivery of your order SS: ...... (I can hear the cricket's chirping now) Me: So, how about getting the brickies to start laying the commons at the front while you wait for the face bricks to arrive? SS: Brickies are running about 4 weeks behind right now, and I need to wait for head office to assign me some So, basically, there is no work happening on site until we have both face bricks AND bricklayers, to which the SS himself has NO IDEA!!!!!!! Now for the good news on bricks: So, we thought, hmmm, if the SS can't get a timeframe for brick delivery, maybe we should try and find out from Boral how long they'll be. With a sick 10 month old, and being sick herself, jo call Boral, and within the 2 minute phone call (with a sick baby screaming in the background), is told that the bricks ordered by Eden Brae for our site will be delivered there on May 24th, hmmm, I wonder why the SS couldn't find the time in his busy schedule to make one telephone call and ask one question?!?!?!?!?!? Now for the good news on bricklayers: So, I call our CSO girl at head office, and tell her everything the SS told me, and what Jo was just able to findout in one telephone call, and she says she will have a look for us, and ghet back to me on when we can expect to have some brickies available for our site. So, a sick stay-at-home mum with a sick baby, has been able to do in 2 minutes what SS has had at least 4 weeks to do, and still hasn't done yet... And our CSO is also being awesome and following up the brickies for us, yay. Rant over Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Time to rant about the SS agai 52May 19, 2010 4:20 pm feel for you - totally. was in the same 'place' as you last year . EB SSs are assigned far too many sites, to supervise them efficiently & effectivley. I was told our SS had either 20 or 40 - don't remember now, but even if he had 20.........that's a HUGE amount to be looking after. So in a sense, I don't blame the SSs, I hold the management of EB responsible for the poor site supervision. SS told me a few weeks ago that he has 25 sites Re: Our Saville at Georges Fair - Kinda Have A Roof Over My 55May 26, 2010 3:27 pm Bek ummmm PHOTOS???? I have photos, but photobucket won't let me upload them, so you'll have to wait till I can upload them. Update: SS called on Friday and said that bricks WERE due to be delivered that week, but hadn't been due to the rain, so they were going to be delivered on Monday (hmmm, Boral themselves told us they were always scheduled for Monday delivery) They arrived on Monday, but don't look like our brick that we chose, must have been cause we looked at them by the light of the car's headlights. We are apparently the next house in line to get brickies assigned, so, in the words of the SS, "Hopefully bricking can start in the next couple of weeks" Waiting game time again..... Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Bricks have arrived! 56Jun 01, 2010 1:55 pm So, was told by the SS yesterday that it will be about 1-2 weeks after the rain stops before bricking will start, as the brickie has to finish off another job first, apparently the brickies are still EXTREMELY behind schedule Just remembered, when our CSO told me that we were next in the queue for brickies to be assigned, and that they don't just hire ANY old brickies - they only hire QUALITY bricklayers, she also told me that they had just brought on a new team of brickies.... Does anyone else think that if we were next in the queue they should have been straight away assigned to us and we shouldn't be waiting on brickies to finish another job before moving onto ours??? Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Bricks have arrived! 57Jun 03, 2010 4:48 pm joannapaulp Just remembered, when our CSO told me that we were next in the queue for brickies to be assigned, and that they don't just hire ANY old brickies - they only hire QUALITY bricklayers, she also told me that they had just brought on a new team of brickies.... Sounds like you’re not next in the list. That's great that they don't just hire anyone, but if they are that far behind, maybe they need a compromise Current status: Busy making the house our home Built PD Francis 29 on our 576m2 block at Reflections in Tarneit Reflections Estate Thread Our Build Thread Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Bricks have arrived! 58Jun 04, 2010 10:59 am The thing is, they SAY they only hire quality, but i know of someone who built with the same builder who have brickwork so bad that they had three different inspections done (instead of the usual 1) and all the inspectors tell them it was poor quality, so they have had to compensate him for it. I'm just annoyed that the stupid rain won't friggin go away so that there MAY be a chance that some work could get done on my site... Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Bricks have arrived! 59Jun 04, 2010 7:52 pm You are a bit further down the road from us! Howdy I wonder if we had the same SS, sounds like what he would have said! We also had the same problem as you, our slab and frame went up at lightning speed and then we waited 4 weeks for the bricks to start. Very frustrating & we were told the same thing about them being so behind and hadn't been appointed by head office, so must be the standard line at EB?? We also had the same problem with the roof tiles, we had the Walnut roof tiles in the slimline and then got the same call to say they don't make them in that colour We went with the Maquarie too and we've grown to like them We were lucky I guess (esp with weather) and still had the house handed over to us by the end of the 25 week contract period at the end of April. We also had similar problems with the bank and almost lost the land 3 times & spent time begging Jacki etc not to put it back on the market, so all in all it was 14 months of extreme ups and down from when we put the deposit on the land to handover but it was worth it We have a 3 year old girl, so it is always nice to hear that there is young families moving into the area I love the Saville 21 & your ammendments/colours, that is the house we wanted but we bought a corner block at 437sqm (I think it is one of the smallest blocks in the estate thus far, but it was all we could afford), so we got a slightly amended (for the corner block) and slightly bigger Saville 16. Would love the extra space, but oh well at least we have our nice new house & we have the four bedrooms and study. This rain is awful, our yard is turning into mini muddy lakes Hopefully the rain will lay off soon and things will start happening for you again soon! I really do recommend you getting your own building inspector to go through the house with you and the SS once your bricks and roof are on, it cost us $495 for each one, but it was worth it as he picked up so many things we would have missed otherwise. Better to pick up faults early when there is a chance to fix them before things get too far along. Will watch your house with interest! Here's hoping that things go smoothly from here! Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Bricks have arrived! 60Jun 04, 2010 9:28 pm Joanna & Paul - Sorry to hear about the issues youve had. It doesnt seem fair that you finally get your bricks only to be told there are no bricklayers available and then for it to rain. I hope it picks up for you soon. Did I tell you I love, love, love your colour scheme and your facade? Just wanted to say also, there are some absolutely beautiful single storey homes at GF and Im sure yours will be no exception. I hope to catch up with Joanna again for morning tea and a playdate sometime soon. Adnilem79 - Your house sounds lovely. Congratualtions on finally moving into your new home. Dont worry, your block isnt really that small because there are plenty of 300sqm blocks at GF, and to get 4 beds, a study and double garage is fantastic.
