Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Locked Up and Locked Out 81Aug 04, 2010 3:15 pm Ok, so I have gotten REALLY slack with updating this thread, my excuse is that there is so much happening on site, I don't have the time to think about the thread as I am too excited and doing the happy dance with how quick it is all happening now. So, since my last update, the following has happened: All doos were hung, then removed, then first coat of paint on them All walls have the first coat of paint All skirting, architrave etc first coat of paint Celings and cornices painted Kitchen and bathroom cabinets and benchtops installed Garage door and motor installed Waterproofing done Wet area tiling has commenced today Hhad to deliver our feature tiles to the tiler on site this morning, there was three vans and about 6 workers going strong when we got there, i think that's the largest amount of people we have ever had on site at the one time Got a call from the SS making sure we got the tiles to the tiler ok, and he said that they will do the second coat of paint next week, and probably start the fixing out next week as well (electrical, plumbing etc), and that tiling will be finished on Friday (that's friday of THIS week, not NEXT) It seems to be flying along currently, hopefully they keep it up. Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Locked Up and Locked Out 82Aug 04, 2010 6:55 pm Oh sounds good I went outside once. The graphics were alright, but the gameplay sucked! Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Progress progress progress... 83Aug 10, 2010 1:45 pm Ok, so wet area tiling has been done. Tiler let us in to have a look when we picked up the leftover tiles that we supplied, man he has done an awesome job, really really good job. The tiles for the feature strip in the showers are a different thickness to the wall tiles, but he has packed it out perfectly so they are in line, and there are no bumbs or anything. Grout lines from floor tiles to skirting are perfect all the way around, minimal cuts to fall to floor drain, we are very happy Painters were onsite yesterday doing the second coat, and also putting the moroka on the front (they got one section of moroka to do, but I don't see that happening in today's rain - and the neighbour says nobody onsite today). Gas connection happened late last week, and water tank arrived yesterday. Apparently we will be having fixout this week, so can't wait to have a look to see what has been done by the end of the week. I wonder how long till we have PCI and then handover??? Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Progress progress progress... 84Aug 11, 2010 10:25 am Yeah I was out there yesterday in the rain checking out a few things and nothing was doing anywhere but certainly starting to take shape I went outside once. Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Progress progress progress... 85Aug 12, 2010 4:24 pm So, we went by (again) last night to check out what had been done (our neighbour let us know that there was tradies on site), and wow, they are just flying along now... Plumbing and electrical are finished!!!!! I am seriously going to ask SS tomorrow about his thoughts on PCI & handover So, we have the following left to go: Door handles Tiling Carpet Flyscreens Driveway, path & letterbox Termite barrier thingy Finish painting Moroka & downpipes Shower screens & mirrors Appliances & HWS Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Progress progress progress... 86Aug 13, 2010 11:33 pm So, today was wardrobe fitouts, door handles, and termite barrier system... Monday they start the main area tiling and driveway, which will be done by the end of the week Not much left now... Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Progress progress progress... 88Aug 23, 2010 1:58 am Don't worry Bek, as soon as we can get in there, we'll give you a tour... On the house front, tiling was finished last week, driveway was not even started, and shower screens & mirrors went in yesterday Driveway should now be done this week, carpet early in the week, then the SS will have a look-see, get tradies back to fix stuff, then get Tyrell's in for their inspection, then get tradies back to fix stuff again, then we have PCI, tradies come back to fix stuff again, then we get handover. Even though there is not much there to be done, if you listen to the SS's incoherent ramblings, we have about 4 weeks to PCI and 7 till handover.... Hope it is NOWHERE NEAR that timeframe... Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Progress progress progress... 89Aug 23, 2010 2:45 am WOW I would be jumping out of my skin with delight !! but 7 weeks geez do they have to gold leaf the interior?????? Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Progress progress progress... 90Aug 24, 2010 7:58 am Yeah, we don't reckon it will take anywhere near that long, but with the constant stream of ****** being told to us by the SS, you never know, he may just decide to take a long time making all the fixes that are picked up either by us, himself or Tyrells... Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Progress progress progress... 91Aug 28, 2010 1:16 am Well there was quite a few bodies on your build round lunchtime today I went outside once. Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Progress progress progress... 92Aug 30, 2010 3:51 pm They must have been laying the pavers for our driveway, which according to the SS will be done by mid this week (went by on Saturday and they had less than a day's work left, so should be finished today I hope). Apparently, carpet will be installed a few days before handover, so won't be there for PCI. All that is left now is for the SS to check everything and get tradies back to fix it, then tyrell's comes through, then tradies come back again to fix, then we have PCI. (He STILL says 5 weeks till PCI, regardless of how much work is left to do, who knows WHAT is going through his mind sometimes, I don't think he likes to give estimates, as he is obviously hopeless with scheduling things properly) Re: Saville at Georges Fair - Progress progress progress... 93Sep 06, 2010 12:33 am Just so you know, PCI Tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Re: Saville at Georges Fair - PCI Tomorrow (Monday) Afternoo 95Sep 09, 2010 9:14 am About a billion paint touch ups, after I had pointed out in the first three rooms that the tops and bottoms of the doros weren't painted properly, and the top of the architraves hadn't been painted at all, SS gave up and made a note for all doors and architraves to be painted. Pantry, linen and garage access doors were higher off the floor than standards allow, so he is giving us a draft stopper thing for garage door, and getting bigger doors for pantry that he will cut down, linen we don't know, we might get them redone under maintenance. He initially said he wasn't going to do anything about it, and spent 5 minutes reading the one paragraph in the standards guide to try and work out a way that he didnt have to do anything about it, and was telling us that the doors are a standard size etc etc etc, i said, I don't care, just fix it so it complies. WC door was put on incorrectly, its supposed to swing into the hall, they hung it so it swings into the WC (apparently SS was not told we had changed this?) BEd 1 doors hung wrong also. left door is supposed to be the one you open all the time, and right the one that you can lock closed, they had them the wrong way. one of the doors did not have a handle on it either. Our (by that I mean Jo's) spa bath has some very deep scratches all across the bottom, they are either going to fix it or replace it, I don't know just yet. The timber bracing in the garage, and the bit of the electricity box inside the garage are painted a LOVELY mission brown colour, these are being repained to colours that we want (woodland grey for the elec box, cornice white for the timber). The splashback tiling in the ensuite has a weird placement for a cut tile, so he is going back to dilorenzo to get them to change it. One of the feature pillars at the study entrance is twisted like a corkscrew Outside, there is just a few paint splashes, and some discolouring in the mortar in a few places. When we turned up, I had the ladder on the roof of the car, to which SS says "you been doing some painting" my reply being "no, just going to poke my head in the roof to make sure the insulation has been put out fully". He was not happy about that. When i did lean over a bit to look towards the back of the house he even told me not to start walking through the roof (i was just sitting on the trusses at the manhole), and that was something I could do after handover blah blah blah. When we were looking at the pantry etc doors, he even had to borrow my tape measure, as he didn't have one!!! He tried to fight us on every little thing, when we pointed out a mistake in the paint, he spent a good few minutes brushing it off, then licking his finger and trying to wipe it off, explaining that it is just dirt... Over all, after just over three hours, we were exhausted both mentally and physically, but ovreall don't think it will be too long before the place is ours, and we can start compiling our list for the maintenance team to fix in the defects period. Re: Saville at Georges Fair - PCI Tomorrow (Monday) Afternoo 96Sep 13, 2010 6:37 am Hmmmm seems strange he did not want you to look at the roofing insulation?? Was it OH&S or is he aware that work needs to be done I wonder ??? Its a shame about the paint no amount of saliva will fix a defect though but I know when I finally get into my house I will probably be repainting within the first week anyway I went outside once.
