Hi all, like many many others, i have been stalkng the forums for many months now, and the time has come for me to start our build thread
Introductions first, we are a late 20's early 30's couple with an 8 month old boy, and will be getting married in December this year.
We put a deposit down on a block in the Georges Fair estate in June last year, and after many hassles with banks, settled in October.
We chose the Saville 21 by Eden Brae, which we have (of course) modified to make it our own. We really liked the design, as it is four bedrooms plus study, and had a great open feel to the back of the house in the living areas.

We increased the size of the house by a further 2 squares by adding the shaded area in the family, alfresco, bed 4, bed 3, & ensuite (can you believe that in a standard saville 21 the ensuite vanity doors will not open fully as they will hit the toilet bowl???), and stole some of bed 2 WIR to increase the size of bed 1 WIR
Other changes we made include:
Overhead cupboards in kitchen with microwave provision
Tiled living room
Recessed HWS (so it sits in the wall, not on it)
Extended bed 2 sideways (council requirement as we are a corner block)
Extended ensuite to match bed 2
Upgraded to spa bath in main bathroom
Upgraded to blue carpet underlay
Changed laundry floor tiles to match hallway and living areas
Dropped garage to meet council driveway gradient requirements
Sliding door between meals and alfresco
Upgraded toilet bowls
A few additions in electrical, but not much, will be getting my sparky mate to do some additional works after handover
Removed the oven, so we will supply our own (dishwasher too) for my sparky mate to install
Increase in water tank size (basix requirement)
Flyscreens throughout
6.38mm laminate instead of glass (cheaper and ebtter acoustically than double glazing that we were initially going to get)
Solid timber door and deadbolt in garage
There's a few more, but i can't think what they are right now
I will post our colour etc selections when i can find where i put them.
After submitting to council on Dec 2nd, we finally got approval Feb 8th, and got authority to commence construction from the bank on March 1st, so we should see things start to happen really soon (builder says start by March 29th - so much for the "you should be in by July 2010" the builders sales guy told us last June )
Anyway, the block is 550sqm, corner block, so we will have plenty of room for the swing set for the kids, and for my boat to go down the side of the house as well
OK, block pics for the pic piggies out there (me included )
Frontage as when we bought the block last year, the chainlink fence is actually on our land

Looking down the street at the block and the next land release (most of which is alerady sold) - the green electricity box is approximately the boundary of our block

Since we took these last lot of pictures, our neighbour up the hill (to the right of us) has started building, and already has the second story frame up - i hope we have speedy workers like them... but i doubt it
Well everyone, i know it has been long , but thanks for sticking with it, and i really want some comments from you all please, i accept both good comments , and bad ones , but i do prefer good ones
