Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 03, 2010 9:41 pm I am looking for home and land packages in Piara Waters (New haven Estate) , WA - approx above 550m2 block. I have seen some house and land packages by Ross North that fit this. I am totally new and dont know anything about this, so i am asking you guys for help. When they provide a price for a certain design on a house and land package, and when they say the land is titled and ready to go. How easy is it to change the design of the house. For example, if we like another design from their home designs rather than the ones advertised or if we want to make minor changes to the current design etc. Does this cost lot ? to make few changes in the design. Also, which builders are more flexible in doing a custom design as per changes we require. Just wanted to see if you guys recommend builders who would be more willing and flexible to do the changes required etc.. We could also opt for things like higher ceilings (of course we paid for the increased cost in that) and any variations we chose at selections - upgrading tiles etc. However, some other house/land packages are not flexible at all - one we looked at briefly with another company would not let you change anything- exactly X house goes on exactly Y block, and no modifications to house at all. I think we asked about something really minor like haveing a window on the kitchen wall - no chance. Needless to say, our associaition with them ended very quickly The other thing with house/land packages is to read the conditions and inclusions very carefully - for example, ours had genuine fixed site costs and it included fencing, perimeter paths, clotheslines, floor coverings. stormwater, driveway etc - this varies enormously between packages. Ours initially included front landscaping and air conditioning too - which we chose to have taken out and do ourselves - some packages wont let you take things out either. Good luck with it all Re: Home & Land Package Builders - How easy to change design 3Mar 03, 2010 10:14 pm Helyn The other thing with house/land packages is to read the conditions and inclusions very carefully - for example, ours had genuine fixed site costs and it included fencing, perimeter paths, clotheslines, floor coverings. stormwater, driveway etc - this varies enormously between packages. If not, i will have to find another builder. Would also be interested in knowing from perth members who have used perth based builders. thanks Land - Northerly Estate, Piara Waters Titles Issues 05 April 2010 Building with Ross North Homes Prestart Completed 12 April 2010 Finance Approved 01 May 2010 Slab down 29 May 2010 Frame Completed 28 June 2010 Roof Completed 22 July 2010 Lockup 12 August 2010 PCI 24 Sep 2010 Handover 08 Oct 2010 Building Thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32295&start=0 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair I mean, I install them/sell them for a living so I haven't done DIY, unless you count the first one I installed lol.
