Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 03, 2010 1:50 pm We are in the process of picking our oven/stove/rangehood. As the title suggests for the same price we can get a smaller Smeg package (60cm) or a bigger Blanco (75cm). We are building a house with a large kitchen (4 metres across the back wall) so space isn't an issue. Thanks for your input! Re: Quick Question - Bigger Blanco or Smaller Smeg? 2Mar 03, 2010 2:05 pm I would definitely go the bigger Blanco. Whilst researching for our own oven I noticed that the internal cavity sizes of most of the 60cm oven's are approx 45cm. That means most oven trays won't fit in them at all. I only found 2 ovens W/House and Electrolux (same company thought) that have an internal cavity of 47cm. When I measured most of my trays and ovenware - 80% of them wouldn't have fit in the smaller ovens. Just something to be aware of! As for the quality of Blanco vs Smeg - I have no idea!!!! Hopefully someone else can assist with that!! Re: Quick Question - Bigger Blanco or Smaller Smeg? 3Mar 03, 2010 2:07 pm We've switched all of our appliances from Smeg to Blanco. Although our decision was based on them discontinuing a 900mm cooktop that we had chosen, and not replacing it with something of our liking. It was important to us to get a 900mm cooktop with a fish burner, and they no longer have one of those without purchasing the 900mm freestanding cooker (which we didn't want for ergonomic reasons). The Blanco seem to have very similar specs as the Smeg, just not quite as "premium" a name. If badges don't concern you, I'd go with the 750mm oven. Re: Quick Question - Bigger Blanco or Smaller Smeg? 5Mar 05, 2010 11:14 pm I would go bigger but thats because I always wanted a big big oven. Re: Quick Question - Bigger Blanco or Smaller Smeg? 6Mar 05, 2010 11:24 pm we have blanco appliances in kitchen, they are fantastic. Go 750 providing you don't want to put microwave (60cm) above it. I'm hoping to get the 90cm Blanco put into my new house. Any particular reason you would chose the 75cm Blanco? I personally think that the 90cm would look nice if you were to also get the 90cm cooktop and rangehood. Just a thought...
