Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 01, 2010 7:06 pm Do you get them!? I was talking to a girl at work who is building with "M" aswell, and she said she was going up to ikea this weekend and looking at all her towel rails and stuff. I would have though you got them in your new home!! But she seemed to think not. And then we both kinda stood there and looked at each other and thought WTF?? HAHA....SO....do builders actually put them in, or like every other bloody thing with building, do you have to buy your own? Thanks Re: towels rails....toilet roll holders- are they standard? 3Mar 01, 2010 7:11 pm They are standard with Henley Re: towels rails....toilet roll holders- are they standard? 5Mar 01, 2010 7:52 pm Standard in ours too except i'm getting heated towel rails so we have requested supply only for towel rails and if they have to be installed I'll just get them to put one in the garage and the other in the laundry. Re: towels rails....toilet roll holders- are they standard? 6Mar 01, 2010 8:07 pm I have heard both sides, ie some that do supply and some that don't. Not so much the toilet roll holders, but more to the towel rails. I would not assume that you will get them, unless they are specifically included. Then again would you be really upset if they weren't? I was figuring I don't really mind if they do or don't, since I will just buy my own if necessary. It is a small expense at the end of the day. Now if they didn't provide a any internal doors, or something like that, it would be a problem. Anyway, point being, don't assume anything. Mine were include by the way... Re: towels rails....toilet roll holders- are they standard? 7Mar 01, 2010 8:20 pm Yeah ours where included BUT they where included under the "$16,000 of extra standard inclusions" marketing scheme used to differentiate them from other builders ---------------------------------------- Building the PD Lisbon 24 http://www.porterdavis.com.au/#homeviewer/lisbon/24 Blog of our progress. http://lisbon24.blogspot.com/ Homeone build thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28665 Re: towels rails....toilet roll holders- are they standard? 8Mar 01, 2010 8:51 pm My experience isn't up-to-date but I thought I'd mention a few points to consider. A relative bought a completed house from the same builder we used and ended up with the really cheap plastic towel rails and we didn't want that so we bought what we wanted and had the builder install them. So if you do leave it up to the builder I'd suggest checking exactly what they install or whether they give you any choices. Since then we have added/rearranged various fittings and some haven't been a problem but hubby isn't comfortable with the idea of drilling into tiles so we have had to compromise there. I guess if you know how to do it it's not a problem but otherwise it might be better to leave it to the builder to do. Re: towels rails....toilet roll holders- are they standard? 9Mar 01, 2010 9:21 pm Not standard for me (large major Vic builder) Re: towels rails....toilet roll holders- are they standard? 10Mar 01, 2010 9:49 pm Metal towel rails and toilet roll holders were standard with ours - only thing we had to get extra was a hand towel ring for the vanity - this cost $29 installed. Re: towels rails....toilet roll holders- are they standard? 11Mar 01, 2010 10:02 pm I am currently building with M and can also confirm that they do not supply towel rails and toilet roll holders as standard. You can pay extra for them, but the girl at Studio M discouraged me and said it was much cheaper to supply them yourself. I was told that if I provide these items to them during the fit out they will install them at no extra cost. So you don't have to worry about having to doing any drilling yourself after handover! Re: towels rails....toilet roll holders- are they standard? 12Mar 02, 2010 12:15 pm Hi There, we are also building with "M" and no they are not included and as Jeffsy said our consultant during the colour appointment said the same thing its cheaper to do it yourself. I know that I have said this in other threads BUT the bug bear for me was door stops they are also NOT STANDARD I think that it is crazy but they don't tell you unless you ask, so if you don't ask they just stick little squares of white rubber to your nice newly painted plaster walls........ (listen to me have a rant!!! !!) __________________________ M3tr1con Denver 32...Now 43!!! All moved in & love it!!!! We will soon start building with M in QLD and we have them included as standard. Then he can say yes or no , why would people around the country know the answer , surley asking the builder is the smart choice. Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products. I get that you want something stylish.
