Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 18, 2007 9:35 pm Hi everyone,
We've been reading your posts everyday and been wanting to share our journey of building our 1st house... but no time to do that. Finally, we're here! We've been in this journey for more than a year now. We bought our block last May 2006 and we need to build within a year of settlement. Unfortunately though, due to some issues, we deferred our commencement date to Sep 2007 (approved by the land developer). Our block is located at Monterey Central, Point Cook. We went from PD to AV, and now the big M. We're sure this is the one. We spent so much money for soil tests (as they don't accept a soil test report from other builders) and initial deposit (which we weren't able to refund anymore). Anyway, we finally decided to go with big M. We are going to build the Nevada 39. We're going straight to contract, but it's been 5 weeks now and we haven't received any calls from them re: colour selection. We got an assurance though from our sales consultant that he would follow up on Monday and schedule us for the colour selection soon. We have problems with the rubbish left by the builders of our 2 neighbours. We reported them to our council several times(for the last 3 months!), but they only inspected the site last week, which was too late because the houses were already finished. Council said they wouldn't be able to penalise the builder, as we don't have proofs that they were responsible for the rubbish. Had they inspected the site after the 1st or 2nd time that we complained, they would have caught them in time. We have photos showing that their back fences (connected to our land) were left opened during weekends and the rubbish left on our land. We want the council to clean our land because it's not our fault that they didn't do their job of inspecting the building from time to time (as indicated on their website). We're thinking of taking it to the next step. Any thoughts? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Building our 1st house.. problem with rubbish 2Aug 18, 2007 10:46 pm It's not really council's fault though is it it's the builders. Well, assuming it is definitely 100% sure it was the neighbours builders...
I think you will probably just have to wear it. Not worth the stroke risk. builders next door 3Aug 19, 2007 7:41 am Council won't clean it up.
The builders beside us raise the level of their land and all the water run off is going on our property. Council inspected it and told it is a civil case and not their problem. So we had o spend extra $$$ for the drainage. With the rubbish, our building supervisor was reacting very quickly and all was cleaned. you should inspect your site regularly and ask them to remove it. Apart from that, they were steeling our power, driving over our retaining wall and so on so on. Hopefully we were living 5 minutes from the block so we could inspect it and react quickly. cheers kate Re: Building our 1st house.. problem with rubbish 4Aug 19, 2007 10:36 pm Thanks for the replies, Cabinfever and kasiakm.
I wish same thing that happened to a friend would also happen to us. Their council cleaned up the rubbish on their block when they complained. How I wish we could also visit our block every day in order to catch those people dumping rubbish on our block. My hubby went to visit one of our neighbours (front) yesteday and asked them a favour of ringing us in case they see someone dumping rubbish again on our block. They were so nice! I wonder how much we need to spend in order to clean up our block. I'm going to attach some photos of how our block looks like now with all those rubbish... just found out though that I can't upload jpg files. Will have to convert them to another file type. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Hi there, We’ve recently had plans approved to add a 1st storey addition to our existing house for a growing family in Sydney. With the current cost of building… 0 4306 I don’t think so as the floor area over 300 square meters then it is class 3…. 12 17943 2 5860 |
