Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 26, 2010 8:46 pm We are building a new home and had originally wanted to put porcelain tiles throughout the entry and and kitchen/family however the builders cost for intalling these tiles is beyond rediculous. We currently have hardwood polished floors in our home and I HATE them! The constant worry as the kids drive their cars over them taking gouges out of them and scratching the crap out of them makes me go crazy, they are very high maintenance and require sweeping and mopping twice daily as they have been sealed and glossed also. We were thinking of going vinyl wood planks like Karndean or Polyflor but the other half thinks it will cheapen our home and look really fake. Anyone got any experience with this product or photos??? Re: Vinyl Plank Flooring - does it look really fake? 2Feb 26, 2010 9:08 pm My In laws had it put in their place and they raved about it, it looked really good and she said there was no maintenance and very hard to damage. I wish i had a photo but unfortunately they sold the house and move 3 weeks ago......but i could have a look around for old ones...or even ask her if she had some. Apparently it is the same stuff they use in shops with high traffic, like supermarkets , and there are many many different patterns and looks. She showed me just before she moved all the catalogues for it and yep looks good....though can't remember the name it might be the 'poly' one .My parents have polished marri floors in their holiday house and agree the maintenance and I always pack death my kids will kill it...and have actually done some damage actually maybe their house is still on the realestate site and i could get pics from there....hmmmm....will see what I can do Re: Vinyl Plank Flooring - does it look really fake? 3Feb 26, 2010 9:18 pm Ok found their property on the sold page thingy.....these are all the property pics but you can see a few with the floors showing...oh and the chooks!!
