Re: Nice to have items "wish list" 5Feb 26, 2010 9:13 am Most of items are indeed valid and should be considered. Well done. There are a few I'd add: - Instantaneous gas water heating system - built it shoes and coat storage next to the entrance (will apply for those, refusing to wear shoes inside - i.e. most of Asia, Eastern Europe etc) - caesarstone benchtops - add power points in new places - think about where you'd need a power point in the house and check the nearest one. We added about 6 new - LAN cabling (Cat 5e as a minimum) throughout the house terminated to a location (I did it to the top of the WIL where I will mount a switch). Wireless in big houses will make it "a house of wireless pain". Again, requires thinking about potential locations of PCs (and TVs - more and more TVs are LAN enabled) - Sound wiring - helps to remove ugly cables. We did in the home theatre as well as created an additional zone i living-family - For those, planning to have a projector, adding and extra power point and necessary AV cabling in the proposed location of the projector unit - outdoor gas point - BBQ, Heater - Aircon Zones design. Consider usage patterns of the rooms and configure zones accordingly trying to achieve the most optimal coiling-heating regimes. - Decide on flooring early. Timber will require 35-38 mm extra (on the ground floor) meaning skirting board and kitchen to be raised. A few personal objections: - render - do not like its look, think it is not weather hardy, expensive to install - obscure glass - nah.. COnsideiring everything is equal (infrastructure, access to shops, schools and soooooo on including price of the land), having the possibility to enable ADSL will be very important.
