It's good to do owner builder, you can decide what to do next, we have to wait for the builder. And most of time they don't provide much details. Lucky I live just across the street and can check our site at least twice everyday... Re: We have a slab! 22Aug 17, 2007 9:38 pm Hi Allan,
the brickies are set to go in 4 weeks (time to let the slab cure). the brickies reckon it will take 4 weeks to finish all the bricks (double brick; seconds on the inside for plastering). Then we are having a carpenter make the roof onsite (from second hand approved timber). in the meantime we are finalising cabinet maker and getting the oak floorboards ready (second hand again). reading this back it sounds like our whole house is second hand!! it is great that you live just across the road to check on your block. i think it must be much harder if you live a long way away from the site. is your draining pipe your storm water pipe or yourbathroom pipes? I will check your blog to see photos of where you are up to. owner builder does mean you get to decide what to do next, but it also means you have to know what to do next. we don't have a site supervisor, we are doing it all ourselves so it is a lot of research and leg work!! all fun and games. cheers Helen Re: We have a slab! 23Aug 17, 2007 10:11 pm My understanding is, there are 3 main pipes connected today.
One is the black rubber pipe, connecting water into the house. Second one is the plastic drainage pipe. We don't need storm water system/retaining tank, just a normal water tank to collect rain water form half of the down pipes. The first long pipe shown in the photo of my blog was for the other half down pipes that doesn't connect to the water tank plus the drain in bathroom & laundry... Third one is the plastic sewage pipe, which connects to all toilets... Hope I didn't confuse you... Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive). Would require a mini… 13 39742 Hi All, I just wanted to close this topic out with an update.
