Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 24, 2010 11:22 am Hello, Recently have been busily reading all your posts on this website in which we have found informative. My bf and I have just left our initial deposit with DFH, we have chosen to build the Columbia, 211. Perfect for our needs, we have purcashed a large 680m2 block in The Hunt Club, Cranbourne East. we are beginning to look at colour schemes, have searched through many photos on this forum and have loved all your suggestions, hoping people will be able to assist us in our colour schemes, what works what doesnt. we personally dont like much rendering but part of the covenant you must have contrast brick or rendering, we have chosen the Estate Facade, which we will render the portico looking at the colour sandstorm or mission brown, looking for dark bricks but not too dark, have photos of the houses we like, will post and hopefully someone will know the colours used. would love to hear from those who can help ease our mind on the process of building. we are waiting for our contract to come through, our land does not settle to may so dennis have assured us if settlement occurs in may building will commence, june or early july. How long roughly does it take to build?? we have been told 4 months with dennis if everything goes to plan. DFH Columbia, Hunt Club 2Feb 24, 2010 12:00 pm Welcome, Love the Columbia, and would have built it ourselves, the family room was just a bit small for us. Love the living room up the parents end and the storage. DFH are fantastic for storage, the best I have seen, and believe me I have seen all the builders. My niece is just about ready to hand over she built with DFH I am not sure when she started but she was not due to finish according to her contract until May 2010 and she will be in by March 2010, her site super was fantastic with her and she has loved the whole build thing, no stress, few issues along the way, installed wrong colour overhead cupboards, and they changed them no problems. She has had a fantastic experience. Hope yours goes well as well, but like everything for first time builders, check and re-check everything on your contract and plans and understand everything that is included/not included, then you will not be in for any surprises or frustrations later. I like the colours you have chosen, I have looked at their display of this house in Epping, and loved the interior colours. Hope this helps. DFH Columbia, Hunt Club 3Feb 24, 2010 4:22 pm We also have just left our initial deposit with DFH. We are going to build the Charlton 291. Not till april/may though as the land is not titled till April. The comments on here for DFH are mostly positive, so that's good. Look forward to following your progress. Thanks again for your responses!! Re: Building our First Home.. DFH Columbia, Hunt Club 5Feb 25, 2010 6:52 pm sorry, it's taken so long to reply - yes it is on display in epping north, kyabram street, I'm sure if you check their website and click on display homes it gives you directions and times open etc. It is really nice - i dont know where you are coming from but definately worth the trip if you are building this house as it is great to see it "in the flesh" dont forget your camera - I found my kitchen colours, blinds, etc in this display home - and I am soooo in love with the walk in linen press as I have stated before this is a great smaller home with loads of storage, a rarity in most houses. I know nothing about DFH but 4 months would be a very fast build time , I know you can get a 'head start' by signing contract, making selections etc before land titled but I still wouldnt be counting on 4 months We did a house/land package, were in same boat with waiting for land to title, and we did all our contracts and selections before then, and house took 8 months to build from day land titled to handover. Which I thought was fairly good. I like your plan - but may I suggest one small thing, if it is not too late - I would think about an internal entry from the garage, so easy to do with that plan and have it coming in the ideal spot at the top of the garage, just across from the kitchen. Happy Building Re: Building our First Home.. DFH Columbia, Hunt Club 8Mar 07, 2010 9:30 pm Hi dellieandliam!! Congrats on building!!! We built with DFH in Cascades on Clyde and we loved them, they were so friendly and the SS was fantastic as well. From site scrape to hand over our total build time was 4 & 1/2 months so I don't think 4 months is unreasonable at all, it's actually pretty common. If you include the time taken for contracts and land titles, then it will of course be longer, but I don't think its really a fair measure to include that in their build time as they can't help it if there's a delay in title releases or council permits. Our build didn't start til 3 months after our land titled, but that was due to bank delays and developer amendments, nothing to do with DFH. Good luck with everything, I'm looking forward to following your build Built with Dennis Family Homes Cascades on Clyde All moved in now!!!! So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. I'll drop by over the weekend to get… 5 27729 Can anyone give me any onfo on New Homes WA?
