Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 22, 2010 6:08 pm Hi Guys, We are in the very beginning stages of looking at building and I am trying to get my head around a few things I guess so I dont' look too stupid when we go into displays *The base price on the building website if it says include 'S' slab ( as the plantation website says) does that mean it's the site costs for a 'S' slab and we have to pay any other costs? * After you have bought your block of land if you have a strict budget can you get quotes from 2 or more builders before finally deciding on which house you will build? Dh and I like different designs from different builders but price maybe a factor. If the soil report comes back as "H" class for example, then there would be extra costs. When you have bought your block, it's yours - do what you like. Get as many quotes as you feel comfortable with before committing to a particular builder. The only thing is that if theland is mortgaged, you'll be paying interest payments on the land, as well as rent/mortgage on your current home until you move in.
