Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New house in the Maples, Laurimar 41May 20, 2010 9:19 am I'll quiz Aaron tonight on the water tanks, he may have some ideas... and may be able to get a trade price for you We were considering modwood, which is recycled milk cartons... or something like that... so it's not real timber. There's a Spa place on Plenty Road and they have a similar product. The guy who works there has a mate who had his whole deck made out of the stuff, and was going to give us his details so we could have a look in person. We haven't made it back there to get the details yet. Re: New house in the Maples, Laurimar 42May 20, 2010 9:54 am Ditto for the water pressure in the sink! It's terrible! I thought it was just me. Everywhere else in the house is fine, but I can bake a cake before the sink is filled! (Hmmm cake) Congrats J&E on your site progress. We have recently built on the other side of F/Hills near you. Its a great area and you'll love it! Re: New house in the Maples, Laurimar 43May 20, 2010 12:49 pm My water pressure is fine. I actually had to turn down the regulators on the taps as the kids were turning them on full blast and splashing water all over the place. When you pop in James/Elisha, you can check it out. Blog is now up - http://www.jbdave.blogspot.com/ Re: New house in the Maples, Laurimar 44May 20, 2010 7:02 pm Hmmm, I'll have to see what Dave's pressure is like. It sounds like your going have fun with the kids in summer with the garden hose then! Could be good now though cos there's only 2 houses in the street so far using water - just my guess, could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time. Hopefully water pressure will remain the same. Gotta love mates rates re tank! It's good to be an ozzy! Got the sparky coming tomorrow (Friday). I'm going to be there asking for more downlights. The prewire for the data and phone will be done next week. Building in the Maples, Laurimar. The bricks look fabulous. If you can afford a little extra to get good brick it is well worth the investment as it's just a little hard to change later. So glad we did. We went basic on a few things in the house that later we can change and add to but we did go all out on brick, roof and downlights and stuff that really defines the house and can't really change later on. One thing that I can recommend now being a little bit wiser is that if you want some extras a bit cheaper (as the big guys know how to charge), just organise to get them done during the build but make sure it's organised before plaster and bricks go up otherwise you'll be cursing!! This almost happened to us. We've been lucky to have a great SS who is reasonably flexible with small changes, or DIY's. I reckon we'll be lockup before the end of next week. How quickly has that been! Building in the Maples, Laurimar.
