Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 16, 2010 8:51 pm Hi, We are building the Voyager with H3nley. We really want to use OLD REDS recycled bricks on the whole exterior of our house. The place we found them was at Paddys in Nth Melbourne. If you want to check them out it is www.paddysbricks.com.au. Under Old Reds. H3nley have told us that we cannot use them even if we organize our own supply of these. Has anyone had similar experience or know a way around this as we really had our heart set on these as they will fit in well cause we are building on acreage. Advice appreciated.................Thanks Re: Wanting to Use Old Red recycled bricks with H3nley. 2Feb 17, 2010 9:24 am Unforunately, that's what happens with most volume builders. You will not be able to supply any of the building materials, fittings or appliances. It's usually the case as they won't be covered by warranty, and if something goes wrong with them they won't do anything about it. I wanted to supply my own tapware when I built with Henley last year, but I wasn't able to, so I had to go with what was standard and decide to replace after handover...which didn't all go to plan anyway! (Long story...). Your best bet is to find a brick that is similar to what you are after. They do have a big range from Boral, Austral, Daniel Robertson, PGH and Selkirk (at the time I was building, but it may have changed). The great thing about Henley is regardless of what range of house you build you can choose any brick (again, at the time I built, but may have changed!) Go to Cosham in Mount Waverley, take an old red with you and try and match it up...that's probably the best you can do. If you are after that rustic, variation in colour between bricks, then your best bet is Daniel Robertson bricks. Expensive, but well worth it! I have them on my house and love them to death!! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Hi all, My neighbour has built his 15m long garage on our boundary. It was agreed as part of the planning permit that the wall must be in exposed recycled brick. For some… 0 7160 I’m restoring all my 40yr old windows and I want to install seals around the casements. I’ve sanded back and oiled the frames with sikkens. My plan is to box up inside… 0 4393 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 13698 |
