1 Aug 10, 2007 2:22 am Hi everyone
My husband and I are very excited that our home is starting to go up. We are building in brisbane on a 1 acre block. As of the weekend end the roof trusses were partially up but we have had no progress this week well we actually went backwards. The company who designs and makes the fame and trusses made a little mistake on all the trusses over the alfresco and it wasnt noticed till the chipies or the jigsaw puzzle makers as i call them had put them up. So this week the framing company had to send a guy out to cut of 60mm of all of the ends so officially we went backwards. Anyway cant complain they had been moving quickly before that and i would rather them fix it properly then ******* it up. It is such a great felling to walk through a house i designed and spent so much time on. Anyway thats a little about us and here is picture of were we are at. I have created a blog after reading so many other peoples so have a look any thoughts please let me know, not much there at the moment. thanks www.homeontime.blogspot.com Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Home Time 6Aug 12, 2007 8:02 pm Well, we have had a week of not much on our house after it has been moving quite quickly before then. Last week the chippies got taken of the job until the framing manufactures came out and fixed mistakes they had made in the trusses. Basically they cut 60mm of the ends of the trusses running over the alfresco area and a few other things. Not alot but it took four days to get out and get it done. Anyway no complaints because Im glad that the chippies are doing a great job and not turning a blind eye to things that arent right
The chippies got craking again on friday and have done probably half of the trusses now. Cant get a good feel for the front facade still though and stuggling to create a 3d on my virtual home driving me crazy Heres a couple of pictures for an update front and back. After much deliberation my husband and I have picked our roof tiles, window frames, gutters, facia, garage door and two exterior paints. Hopefully photo can show you the real colours not the best but general idea. We had originally picked metro silver widow frames but got pursuaded away from them I am a bit worried I made the wrong descision Tile Colour - Boral Linea Charcoal Grey Gutters & Facia - Woodlands Grey Garage Door - Dune (Colourbond) Window Frames - Notre Dame Grey (A&L windows) Exterior House Colour (Main) - Dune (Colourbond) Exterior House Colour (Feature) - Shale Oil (Wattyl) Re: Home Time 8Aug 13, 2007 5:45 pm Another person who likes grey!
Michelle might be a better person for this, but I think Colorbond Dune and Woodland are not the same family of greys - but if you're happy with that, that's OK. I also went for A&L windows and in my opinion, Metro Silver was the only colour to go with true greys (ie. not green-greys, or brown-greys or blue-greys). So we went with Colorbond Woodland Grey, windows as above, true grey tiles and three true grey render colours. They all match fine. In our old house, I had windows that were green-grey, walls that were blue-grey and true grey tiles - did not look good. I hope anybody knows what I'm talking about. Re: Home Time 9Aug 14, 2007 7:35 pm thanks Mek
the grey thing is a problem green grey, blue grey. Your house looks great do you have any photos of your tiles? I think it is to late to change any of my colours except the render colour but I dont really have any other options at htis stage. Re: Home Time 10Aug 15, 2007 11:30 am My tiles look a lot like your tile in your photo - I took a photo of mine but it looks different in the photo to what it really is.
Window colour does look a bit blue compared to other colours on your photo, is it the same with real samples? Re: Home Time 11Aug 15, 2007 1:19 pm Mek
The tile in the picture is our roof tile. I was interested in your interior house tile if your having one. The window frame in the picture and certain lights brings out a bit more blue but mostly it looks grey. We were careful when we picked our 2nd exterior colour that we didnt pick a colour that would bring out more blue. If I was buiding in suburbia I would have your house even the front door I love it. Helen Re: Home Time 17Sep 04, 2007 10:54 pm Well after losing 2 weeks due to rain and the general delays they started on our house again today but guess what!!!!!!!!!!! Down came the rain again. They did fortunately get some work done so I have some updated photos. I think we will probably lose this week as well as the rain has been reported to be setting in for the week.

How come there wasn't any fence around the construction site?? Not sure why some sites are fenced and others are not. Dont think it is law in QLD to secure the building site, but not 100%. Even in small block estates some houses are others aren't. I have noticed on other peoples pics building in brisbane they havent had fences around building site either. Would love to know if anyone has the answer. Rapid turnaround. That will be great if you are in by Christmas. Build is looking good! 30 134315 granny can live in the garage. just give her a few extra blankets rofl 8 29453 Ah ok, no worries, well the tiles are going in a few days later, so i guess its pretty much stone/tiling done within a few days of each other anyway. Appreciate the help,… 2 12084 |
