Sorry but our tradies left doors open all the time Forum thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22300 Re: Keys to your home???? 3Feb 14, 2010 5:15 pm They shouldn't leave the keys at your house What's the point of locking the doors if they are left there for anyone to use Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! Why would a tradie drive all the way over one side of town to pick up keys, drive all the way back to work on the house and then drive all the way back to drop them back off???? Maybe ask your uncle then where the common places keys are left? My Dad's a builder and I know he doesn't leave keys on site... just imagine if someone broke in to your home using keys left on site by the builder and pinched all your appliances, fittings and more!! That's why there's things called Builders Keys. The tradies have a set for each dif builder, or lock type. Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! Re: Keys to your home???? 7Feb 14, 2010 5:36 pm I just spoke with an actual builder they said the lock on the front is actually a builders lock which means builders keys can open it and during hand over the proper one is put on which will be for our keys. But they said that sometimes that key can be left on site if organised. Re: Keys to your home???? 8Feb 14, 2010 5:41 pm I think there was a similar discussion on this topic not so long ago. Basically, dif builders have dif ways of doing their locks and what they do with the keys. What is your main concern? Or do you want to get into your house? Instead of being ** about, just ask YOUR builder and not everyone on here for clues of where the key would be. Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! Re: Keys to your home???? 9Feb 14, 2010 5:49 pm Hi Robenna, it is probably unlikely keys would be left onsite it would be far too risky and I doubt whether your builder would tell you even if they were We were very ** on our first build, we were able to get our own set cut before anyone could blink an eyelid it saved my sanity Re: Keys to your home???? 10Feb 14, 2010 6:02 pm Suh, it is just about my sanity We've been able to get in a lot during building due to a door being a bit *******, but it got fixed (which is a good thing) but now we cant get in and it is driving me crazy!! Hopefully move in is only a few weeks away anyway Candylea - I dont have a concern, I'm just wondering cause my boyfriend mentioned that he thought they may be on site. I did think this site and forum was about asking people questions about stuff, my mistake. Next time if I see you have a question Ill remember not to answer it. Thanks Re: Keys to your home???? 11Feb 14, 2010 6:09 pm Robenna Suh, it is just about my sanity We've been able to get in a lot during building due to a door being a bit *******, but it got fixed (which is a good thing) but now we cant get in and it is driving me crazy!! If you don't like a question, just don't answer it. Negative comments don't get anyone anywhere, they just create an unhappy environment, where people feel that they have to be careful what they ask, because they might be met with judgemental comments. This should be a helpful environment. Sorry, I don't have an answer too your Q, we are not at that stage yet =) Lara and Joshua http://pdheywood25.blogspot.com/ viewtopic.php?f=31&t=31186 16.03.10 Scrape 29.03.10 Slab 08.04.10 Frame 11.05.10 Lock Up 03.06.10 Fixing 24.08.10 Handover Re: Keys to your home???? 16Feb 15, 2010 6:23 pm Ari Is it me or are people getting more upset lately Its just you Ari viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: Keys to your home???? 17Feb 17, 2010 9:11 am With our builder all the tradies had a "set" but as soon as we received OUR keys the first time we put them in the locks they "drop" something inside and ONLY OUR keys will work from them on, we lived next door to our build and got on very well with most of the tradies, because of this we were inside our place most days, we supplied the workers coffee, drinks, snacks etc so most were only too happy to leave the door unlocked so we could clean up etc, as long as we locked up when we were finished, we certainly didn't want anyone getting in who shouldn't be and delaying our handover. Re: Keys to your home???? 18Feb 17, 2010 9:24 am With the amount of theft going on in building estates I would think that the majority of people would be happy that (a) the home was securely locked and (b) that the keys weren't left somewhere onsite that any idiot would be able to access them. Our home was never securely locked - thank goodness we were able to come to the site twice a day to check everything was okay as well as our adopted grandfather being here daily. First thing we did when we sacked the builder was to fit locks on the doors. Some things are worth waiting for. We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds. That’s why we… 5 16262 Thanks mate. Yeah good points!
