Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 12, 2010 2:04 pm We are considering using matrix cladding for a top storey extension - is that a better look compared to the vertical/horizontal cladding from Scyon? We want a contemporary modern house facade. Should there be a difference in price between the different types of cladding? If so, how much extra should I expect to pay for matrix cladding for a 45 sq metre upper storey extension? Re: Scyon matrix cladding vs linea/stria cladding 3Feb 12, 2010 8:38 pm I have Scyon Matrix for the cladding on my house. I think it looks great...very contemporary. I can't help you with pricing though as it was done through my builder, but they didn't charge me any extra for it so I would imagine it would be comparable in price to other James Hardie cladding products. You can make some enquiries with a few cladding suppliers like Hudsons or Hardware & General who may be able to give you pricing information. My builder is asking for 10k extra in costs and I'm not sure if it is worth it. Re: Scyon matrix cladding vs linea/stria cladding 6Feb 13, 2010 8:57 pm We have used the stria cladding on our house, it gives a clean lines not as busy as linea, there also has been a lot of matrix cladding being used around us, with different houses installing it in different ways, looks great esp with skillion roof lines. At 2008 issue of look home magazine from James Hardie had the costings at Linea $140sqm, Matrix $114sqm, Stria $132sqm, Axon $105sqm. It's not finished yet but you can see it here: http://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt327/livinginelectricdreams/P11-11-09_184701.jpg Still needs to have the bottom panels added as well as painted the dark grey blue of the house. It was part of our facade so I can't tell you how much it was. I do love it and can't wait to see it finished off!!! Matrix seems to be cheaper than the Stria (which is what is on our contract) so I don't see why they are charging us an extra $10K for changing to matrix. It surely can't be for labour! Re: Scyon matrix cladding vs linea/stria cladding 9Feb 13, 2010 9:23 pm Your home looks fab Dreamhome. The cladding will it remain that colour? I love it. SYD I think the matric cladding like Dreamhome's is the way to go as long as it matches your home. I prefer it over the Stria type cladding. We were looking into it at one stage but Alucobond timber look finish but have decided to go with tiles. We got quoted around $500 for a 4000x1500 sheet and they have minimum orders. Re: Scyon matrix cladding vs linea/stria cladding 13Feb 13, 2010 11:26 pm I wonder if you could mount it over brickwork? We have a section at the front of our house that I am not too sure will look that great just bricked but we already have a lot of render perhaps matrix cladding will add some extra dimension! I know it goes up quicker our nieghbours matrix cladding went up in a day, where the stria goes up in long planks overlapping each other so it took at lot longer. Would this be the most common method and anybody ever had any problems down the track? 0 5132 2 5902 We are building a house that was planned to be clad in Hardie Linea, our builder has now requested to swap this for BGC Nuline Plus.
